kakashi is broken after being too late to the valley of the end and finding naruto dead. he runs across a scroll while going through his sensei's things as a form of self-flagelation... the scroll has an untested time-travel jutu. in a last-ditch attempt to make things right, he uses all his chakra to go back to the day of team assignments and get it right with his genin.
jiraya is distraught after his last student is killed by pein and uses an untested time-travel jutsu to go back and try to save his last student.
yamato sees what happens when naruto uses all 9 tails of kyubi-power after pein kills hinata: the entire village, what's left of it, is flattened. he finds a time-travel jutsu and goes back to try to prevent naruto from ever accessing the kyubi's chakra.
see what happens when 4 people from 4 timelines all meet up in the same plot... and why does iruka think kakashi is a pedophile?

Well, let's look at the clues in the order they are given:
- Hidden hideout in the the middle of the American Dessert
- Corpse of some brown-furred humanoid critter
- Crates with unknown name stenciled on the sides full of rocket parts
- Well-equipped machinery shop inside

I'm actually worse off than those that didn't guess it after my big hint in recommending the story and trying to make sure the owner of this forum would read it.
The description of the demon's "pelt" actually made me think of coyote fur and I still didn't get it until the very end.
I guess I could use the excuse that I've seen "convincing" evidence that the coyote is alive in the 24 and 1/2 century where it's revealed the coyote is directly responsible for the disappearance and death of Hong Kong Phoey among other characters.
As for Xander describing the body as a "Demon" that is to be expected we are after all seeing it from his point of view.
As for clues
5. I'd add the blueprints and the description of what was on them.
6. I'd also add the description of the rockets, at least in a second glance seems to me to be cartoonish along with the rockets themselves, which are used regularly by the Coyote.
