Today ended up being a physical modeling day rather than digital. That means I am itching to show off my SS93 bayformer "Hot Rod" (who turns into a Lamborghini Centurino) to pre-Shockwave-rebuild Shadow Striker repaint.

Honestly, I... well, not no much finished it, as gave up on making it better instead of worse with every additional brush stroke. It's not horrible, but I haven't painted more than the occasional dab to pick out a detail or large areas with a solid color for over a decade and it shows. Also, I somehow didn't notice one of the front fenders hadn't been properly tabbed in. If I had it to do over I'd have bought all Jaquard paint instead of cheaping out with Testors crap for the red and turquoise, and picked up a pot of white as well to lighten the purple and turquoise a bit, but my IRL Undo command seems to be broken.

The Dodge Deora was a one-off show car, not a "line" unless you count the Deora II show car decades later and Hot Wheels variations. Show cars can be ridiculously silly.

What struck me seeing this today was that it was a pickup truck built on a station wagon frame. When was the last time a car maker did that?

Regarding a different image in that batch... Tuition to Harvard, $1250. Not bad. Twenty-one years later, my first year at Princeton was, IIRC, $6000 -- which included housing and the meal plan. By the time I graduated, the annual cost had more than doubled -- $12,500.

Today? It's just shy of $70,000. (But that's basically a benchmark. If your family makes under $100K and you can gain admittance, it's free. Flat out free. That's the way Princeton financial aid works. It's still massively discounted even if your family makes up to $300K. So tell your teenaged relatives to aim for Princeton!)

I 'd say 'a quarter of average annual income' is still damn expensive, but at least it is not 'even if you make national average it costs more than a year before financial aid'.
