Circuit Judge Dredd, the Law West of the Pecos.
2000 AD has done this several times, sending Dredd out into the Cursed Earth on Circuit Judge duty or sending him on a variation of the Long Walk (the "retirement" for old Judges) when the plots have resulted in him being disgraced. In truth, it's an excuse for him to be the wandering gunslinger, facing down gangs of bandits and mutants away from Mega-City One.

I think in this case, it was meant more as Nuclear Physicist as in Bruce Banner; and/or a wink at the old TSR RPG Gamma World, rather than a certain Defender who's tougher than a lot of tanks.

Ahh, that makes more sense. I was never a big follower of the big green guy or TSR RGPs, so my brain (fuzzy pattern matching at it's best!) grabbed onto the closest match it could Smile

Meanwhile, half a world away, we've switched Pinkie and Pinkie. Who will snap first, Brain or Twilight Sparkle?

Brain. Twilight is a little more reasonable. Besides, Pinky is not all that different from Pinky Pie, save for a lack of party-time.

A terrible idea struck me:  in the still-smoldering wreckage of her failed experiment, Precia stumbles across Alicia's body... and finds Kyubey sitting next to her, waiting to make her an offer she can't refuse....
2nd version:  sometime during the runup to MGLN, or perhaps during the early phase, Fate encounter Kyubey at a moment when she's especially vulnerable to what the Incubator has to offer (perhaps after the whipping scene)... and the entire series takes a hard left turn towards the dark side.
TSAB vs the Incubators... Nanoha determined to save Fate from her, er, fate, no matter what the cost... this could go cracky, or it could get very very nasty indeed.
