- classicdrogn - 04-26-2014 I'm finding that I quite like Grrl Power http://www.grrlpowercomic.com/ but that may just be because of a particularly high sympathy for the main character -- "Anko, what you do in your free time is your own choice. Eng., verb, 1st & 3rd pers. prsnt. sg. know, knows - Black Aeronaut - 04-27-2014 Yeah, loved GP from the get-go. Sydney is freaking hilarious and my kind of nut. If she were an actual person and we were to meet we'd probably get along like a house on fire... with actual houses and actual fire. - classicdrogn - 04-28-2014 Wait, did you just edit that in, or... Dammit, I swear I checked to see if it had already been mentioned! Grumblemuttercurse. Edit myself: Now I know Marry Me hasn't been recced yet http://marryme.keenspot.com/d/20120730.html The sign says "Marry me!" She does. This is part of the site header, so hardly a spoiler... the rest of the first two arcs of the comic is the two (well, three, since uber-fangirl isn't about to miss out on this) of them actually getting to know each other. Third arc is currently in progress. Edit: I've been looking at some of the other recs, and have come to this epiphany: Stylistic suck is still suck. If that means I'm shallow, I'll just sit over here listening to my studio recordings, enjoying slick, beautiful art, and being completely fine with that. -- "Anko, what you do in your free time is your own choice. Eng., verb, 1st & 3rd pers. prsnt. sg. know, knows - Jinx999 - 05-12-2014 It's a Korean webcomic, so it has to be scanlated for us, but I'd like to recommend "The Gamer". http://mangafox.me/manga/the_gamer/ A guy gets the ability to interact with the world in the manner of a MMORPG player. He can see levels and titles, has HP, get's XP and can level up. Although it's a cinematic world, it's not one that normally runs on RPG rules, this is unique to him and other people find it weird as f*ck. Especially when monsters he defeats drop loot, despite being immaterial. Which helps quite a bit when he gets involved with the hidden magical world. - robkelk - 06-11-2014 Planet of Hats From David Morgan-Mar at mezzacotta.net (who also bring us Irregular Webcomic and Darths and Droids). Recaps of original Star Trek, one episode per week (on Wednesdays), somewhat self-aware. Being done as an excuse to strengthen drawing skills, so don't expect pretty pictures - but the dialogue is great. ("Captain's log, Stardate 1512.2. Crew are playing a game of Annoy Spock.") -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Aneeka seemed pleased to here NAV made it onto our recommended comics list. If she's found the forum and reads this -- congratulations on surviving the pit of chaos that is the dealers room/artists alley at PhxComicon. The whole entire underground level this year and it was still crowded and noisy. ----- Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. - Herr Bad Moon - 06-12-2014 ClassicDrogn Wrote:I'm finding that I quite like Grrl Power That joke went about 3 panels too long. --- Jon "And that must have caused my dad's brain to break in half, replaced by a purely mechanical engine of revenge!" - robkelk - 07-02-2014 robkelk Wrote:Planet of Hats And, of course, we all knew this one would be written thusly. (spoilered because of size) Say, is there an error of usage in panel nine? -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Seriously. Read. This. Thing. - Black Aeronaut - 08-31-2014 Recently binged a webcomic called 'Star Trip' where in a young woman disillusioned with life in general rescues a shape-shifter. In return, it grants her request to take her to every inhabitable world in the known galaxy. It does not go as smoothly as some would hope... Interesting idea, but somewhere along the way it undergoes a very startling art-shift where the main character goes from being an athletic looking young lady to looking like a young teen that's had just a tad too much junk food or not quite enough exercise. I'd have no issue with either character design, but to change it so radically and with little to no explanation for it... Otherwise, it has pretty good 'coming of age' vibes to it where the main character must learn to behave in a manner befitting a civilized person (that is, understand first that she is the alien, and not everyone else around her). - robkelk - 01-15-2015 Jinx999 Wrote:...Recently finished marathoning this one (it's a long-runner).
