- Dartz - 09-05-2011 Gah!... where did the post I was writing go? I was hoping to let people offer suggestions, especially if they wanted their characters to know about Jet's masquerade. Most high-ranked troubleshooters would know anyway, and Jet would default to them.... especially since Jet uses the Knight Sabers to handle most of her troubleshooter missions now. Most of the masquerade is solely to keep zwilniks from finding out who the Sabers are, so they can't target the Saber's families, or 77 Frigga which isn't that capable of defending itself against a concerted attack (There isn't enough boots on the ground, or live ammunition in the launchers, to do more than shoo away pirates.) Quote:As far as I can remember, the only named group that builds custom computers in Fenspace are the folks on Prometheus Forge. I'm just being careful not to overuse that connection, both from a meta-standpoint and in-universe. Jet lacks the skills to do it all herself, so she's looking for some of the best equipment she can get her hands on from Fenspace. So that'd be a Forge-based computer system, she might try and get one of the Roughrider's A10 sets for the helmet (The Crash version does have these retractable antennae that come out the top of the helmet). Even if Jet's only getting customer versions of equipment, it's still better than what she can put together herself. Forge computer, Roughriders Interface, CGI Element Zero power-core, weaponry from another supplier.... it's a smorgasbord of gear. Quote:I suspect Nene will also be helping out, at least in Underspace, until something is asked in the training that makes her go, "hey, wait just a minute, that sounds suspiciously like something I had to do under the heat of fire once." Nene and Anika might get along famously after that.... And if Nene asked nice, Jet might even cook her up a genuine hardsuit of her own out of gratitude for her help. ________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? - Dakota - 09-05-2011 Dartz Wrote:I'm just being careful not to overuse that connection, both from a meta-standpoint and in-universe.Sabre could have been the one that supplied the weapons. He owes Jet for his rescue and isn't known for being a weapon builder so people may not make the connection. Also he'd probably ask not to be told why Jet wants such weapons for. _______________________________________________________________ Characters Sabre Fang Dakota - LynnInDenver - 09-06-2011 Dartz Wrote:Well, I can certainly see that. Getting tips and advice from someone who was, for all practical purposes, her predecessor in the role, would likely do wonders once they get to the "OK, yeah, I'm Pink" stage.Quote:I suspect Nene will also be helping out, at least in Underspace, until something is asked in the training that makes her go, "hey, wait just a minute, that sounds suspiciously like something I had to do under the heat of fire once."Nene and Anika might get along famously after that.... It wouldn't be that hard either, overall, to arrange to drop Nene off at 77 Frigga for a little "hands on" coaching and help with the training simulations. She could come along for a "contract negotiation" visit on a Blue Midget run, and stick around "to iron out a few contract points". The hardsuit would be just a bonus. And having Jeph know about it will likely also ease getting some things "slipped through the cracks" with regards to Knight Saber specific shipments. -- "You know how parents tell you everything's going to fine, but you know they're lying to make you feel better? To make the transmission satellites small enough? - robkelk - 09-06-2011 That, and redundancy - if one fails, the two on either side can still communicate with each other. -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Quote:In that case, have a Halcyon node. That gives me an interesting idea. And a plot point for Maico Tenge.... depending on how secret the locations of the nodes are. Yes... that story's coming together nicely. With Nene onsite to meet Anika at the same time (and getting fitted for a hardsuit). We get a hundred reasons why Frigga isn't a homebase for the Sabers... including a high-speed pass by the KnightWing.... before she leaves despondent, before being rescued halfway home by the Sabers Hardsuit range weaponry from Sabre.(How appropriate) The monofilaments on hardsuit green were salvaged from a wreck by Toy Box... and JMC quietly shipping things when needed... ________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? - robkelk - 09-07-2011 Halcyon isn't really secret - it's just obscure. Most people haven't even heard of it, and the majority of the people who have heard of Halcyon think it's just another part of the Interwave. Maico probably knows what it really is, but she's a good observer. (Halcyon's meta-purpose is to allow at least minimal communication even when somebody's overloaded the main Interwave, and secure communication between StellviaCorp locations.) -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Adversaries remain citizens of the same state, common subjects of the same sovereign, servants of the same law." - Michael Ignatieff, addressing Stanford University in 2012 - Dartz - 09-07-2011 Right. "So Jet, why would a backwater rock like this have a Halcyon node? Aren't they only for Stellviacorp installations or allies?" Which actually makes sense for them to have as an emergency evacuation point aswell, then.... considering the original comm system overloaded under a simulated evac' load. Final version of this before it foes on the wiki. Based on comments in the thread. Individual Sabers will have their own profile. Quote:Though far from the first group of hardsuited warriors to use the name in Fenspace, this articles deals with the most famous. First appearing with a bang on Genaros station in mid-2025, the Knight Sabers quickly earned notoriety for their handling of the Mia Quincy kidnapping. While the Space Patrol on-station were still negotiating with the terrorists involved, 4 women using Stingray hardsuits and motorslaves stormed the building, handling the terrorists and their cyberdroid heavys with lightning speed.________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? - robkelk - 09-08-2011 Dartz Wrote:Right. I'm starting to get a basic structure for it now. That's two Jet + Ford stories on the boil. And I've gotten most of the Knight Sabers up to the wiki, including profiles for the Sabers themselves. Only thing missing is the motorslaves. And that should be that, only thing left is to write stories with them, and wait until season 3. ________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? |
