Why not go full circle: Luna (girl) in Equestria, Luna (pony) in Tokyo, Luna (cat) in Hogwarts, three casts trying to figure out how to get them back home while dealing their usual problems. I'd read it.

ETA: And I can so see Usagi using that line - and Ikuko boggling or fainting when the flying unicorn persistently exists after a doubletake, and even talks to her - or you could play it another way, and everyone who sees Luna convinces themselves to not react at all because they don't want anyone to know they think they're seeing a flying unicorn and it talks to them.
