A quick Google pulls up nothing immediate. Try a different cable (both power and ATA cable), and if that doesn't work, try another drive you may have lying
around. If THAT doesn't work then you may have a bad port on your mobo. However, if the second (troubleshooting) drive does work, then your DVD drive may
be borked.
Another thing to check for is to see if it comes up in your computer's bios under the detected drives list. This will tell your right off the bat if
Windows is just being weird or if your drive is not working for some reason.

I'll check the BIOS this afternoon, after I do my job search stuff for the day. I did look in there and saw that the Pioneer was still listed in a few
places, but I can't swear that's the same as being detected.
I'll be very annoyed if the drive just coincidentally died during my first full day on Win7. That kind of thing can put a guy off a new OS...

Meh, with Bluray just now coming to the fore, you can expect the quality of Standard DVD drives to take a nose-dive... Kinda like what happened with Floppy
Drives once CD-ROMs held dominance... and then CD-ROMs once DVD became King.
