We got Uchiha Madara, plotting in the shadows, as well as the Akatsuki... Naruto's due for his training trip...
And then suddenly the whole thing gets wrapped up in an unsightly bow.
Occams Razor Logic sez this sucker was orignially intended for a much longer run, but instead the author did an end-run on it. No more, no less.

Meh. You can ask people to label their updates without badmouthing whatever doesn't appeal to you.
And labels are useful for people to find things they *do* like too. I've gotten into some fics from seeing them in the updates, but I'm not likely to investigate if the series isn't listed.
