- OpMegs - 08-15-2014 I absolutely died when they started naming attack patterns after shipping nicknames. There's a lot to love about this episode, including music that I really want now. But then, that's most RWBY music. Torchwick, as always, is a pleasure to watch work. And it's clever how he manages to sell himself as slime...and still get the White Fang on his side. On top of that, he's still more than decent at piloting the Paladin. Action was excellent, and we're still left with some curiosity about what exactly Cinder's gameplan is... and how in to it Torchwick really is. Looking forward to more. Well played, RT. --- "Oh, silver blade, forged in the depths of the beyond. Heed my summons and purge those who stand in my way. Lay waste." - Black Aeronaut - 08-15-2014 I'm just eating up how they go from Epic Feels for Penny to Epic Action, and make it all so buttery smooth. Out-fricken-standing! - Bob Schroeck - 08-15-2014 Argh, I'm two episodes behind -- was braindead last week, and for some reason forgot all about it last night. And we're saving our watching to do with Helen when she comes over... I might have to break that agreement now. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Cobalt Greywalker - 08-15-2014 Anyone else notice how they've gone through most of the footage from the trailer already? (More or less, they hadn't done the costumes for the trailer.) - Matrix Dragon - 08-15-2014 Yup. This ep was the big part of the trailer. It makes sense though. The earlier stuff is closer to finished, and I suspect they're saving the big surprises for the coming eps. As a side thought, do we know how many episodes they're planning for this season? I suspect it'll be less then last year, given all but the final two episodes there were actually cut in half. - Shepherd - 08-28-2014 http://roosterteeth.com/archive/?id=9568&v=more Volume 2: World of Remnant 1 (Dust) ---------------------------------------------------- "Anyone can be a winner if their definition of victory is flexible enough." - The DM of the Rings XXXV - Black Aeronaut - 08-28-2014 Okay, so not a real episode, but still good stuff to know about. I'm getting crossover ideas. Can you imagine Samurai Jack using Dust? - Shepherd - 08-29-2014 http://roosterteeth.com/archive/?id=9605&v=more Volume 2, Chapter 5 is being released in under two hours. edit: Episode is up and it is great. ---------------------------------------------------- "Anyone can be a winner if their definition of victory is flexible enough." - The DM of the Rings XXXV - Matrix Dragon - 08-30-2014 *Slaps Jaune over the back of the head. Heck, Pyrrha is an example of something so vanishingly rare that it might as well be impossible. She strains my SoD half the time.(The other half, I'm smiling.) I've been writing a bit. - Black Aeronaut - 09-03-2014 Yeah, makes me want to write a fic where, by fiat of ROB, you are now a very young Jaune, and therefore have plenty of time to... well, make something of yourself. I think Pyrrha's thing is that she's got a weakness for the 'awkward puppy'. Also, love Pyrrha's fighting style. Covering up and disguising your strengths like that... pretty slick. Now I wonder if she actually has more firepower hidden under kid gloves - something to fall back on when someone susses out what she's really doing, like our resident baddies have. That might even play into her training Jaune all the time - I think she's hoping that he'll become the perfect complement to her skill/power set. EDIT: (Crossing into WMG territory here. Brace yourselves!) Every time I see Pyrrha some part of my mind suddenly screams "SPARTAAAAAAA!" and then I am reminded of that one line from 300 when the Queen responds to the Persian ambassador's query about women's liberty in their land: "Because only Spartan women can give birth to Spartan men." This was a thing. Women in Sparta could even own property - an oddity in all of Greece! Although it only made sense when you think about it - for a Spartan man, the only viable death was in combat. Which meant that there were a lot of widows in Sparta. Kinda presents a problem if you bar the women from rights like owning property and speaking freely. That taken in mind, Pyrhha makes somewhat more sense. If she really is from some AU of Sparta, then she comes from a culture where women had far more standing (and far earlier in their history) than in most other places on their world. This more than likely evolved to the point where it is the woman that chooses who she's gonna marry. Although the guy still has to make the moves, the woman makes it blatantly obvious who her choice is, all but coming right on out and saying it - you could even go as far to say that it's culturally taboo for the woman to do so because, despite a woman's elevated standing, a man has to be a man. - Bluemage - 09-03-2014 Quote:Black Aeronaut wrote:...how is this different from real life, again? My Unitarian Jihad Name is: Brother Atom Bomb of Courteous Debate. Get yours. I've been writing a bit. - Matrix Dragon - 09-03-2014 I wasn't talking in regards to Pyrrha... well, not entirely. How more blatant does the girl need to be? I'm thinking more in regards to Weiss. There's a line between persistent and annoying, and Jaune has passed it there, I think. - BLHarrison - 09-04-2014 Quote:Matrix Dragon wrote:Although to be fair to Jaune, maybe he hasn't made the connection between Weiss and the Schnee Dust company? After all he has shown him self to ignorant of several things (never heard of Pyrrha's victories or the tournament she won them in for example). Maybe in the possibly isolated town/village/farm he grew up in Schnee is a common name? But I also agree with the panel member of the most recent "Afterbuzz RWBY" show, he does need to be hit with a cluebyfour - ECSNorway - 09-05-2014 I'm still stuck on that one scene that proves Weiss' tsundere'ness. Weiss: "Stop hugging me, Ruby." *hugs Ruby* -- Sucrose Octanitrate. Proof positive that with sufficient motivation, you can make anything explode. - Bob Schroeck - 09-05-2014 Episode 6 released tonight. Yang and Ruby backstory. WMGs confirmed and jossed and made more confusing. Ruby's mother explicitly named. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Matrix Dragon - 09-12-2014 Good boy Jaune. I'll leave a more detailed judgement for when I've seen a few more episodes, but my impression is that this series if off to a good start if what I saw is any indication. I'll also add that while it's obvious where the animation cuts a lot of corners (the cookie eating scene), the parts where the animation is excellent were just *stares in amazed awe * Also, the dialogue is filled with a lot of LOL worthy moments. - Bob Schroeck - 09-25-2014 Quote: the parts where the animation is excellent were just *stares in amazed awe *Wait until you see Volume 1 Episode 8. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - GethN7 - 09-25-2014 Bob Schroeck Wrote:Quote:the parts where the animation is excellent were just *stares in amazed awe *Wait until you see Volume 1 Episode 8. - Cobalt Greywalker - 09-25-2014 Given you started at Vol 1 Ep 1 and have got to Vol 1 Ep 8, I think it's safe to say you can watch the Vol 1 trailers now. They go in title order (E.g. Red, White, Black, Yellow.). - GethN7 - 09-26-2014 Have already seen them, jaw hit ground for all four. |
