I love how Less Wrong has made such massive effort to expand on the mechanics of the HP universe. The transfiguration lecture was *terrifying*.

how about mercury to water? or heavy water to h2o?
i think transfiguring one liquid into another would still fall under "never T anything into a liquid" even if it started out as a liquid

In some cases yes - as I said, it could still be dangerous, depending on the exact liquids involved - but the reasons I remember being given in that lecture seem (in the general case, which is how they were presented) to apply only to transfiguring solids into liquids, not to transfiguring liquids into liquids. (You'd still want to keep them in mind, to be able to identify the dangerous cases, but they aren't nearly as universal as in the solid-to-liquid case.)

And I'm not sure if things went darkfic in Gril's School... seems more appropriate to say misleading words were used to distort what actually happened... It could mean either curse lock or abrupt Twinmas fic as well. A second fic involving hunting down Ranma's stolen half from the expletive demon romp/adventure as well as the literal meaning. The sheer stupid of the phrasement of that wish was wiiiiiiiiide open to abuse. You can take that wish as the demon making hot water girl, cold water boy so that while he can't turn into a she, she can turn into a he.
Always remember that I wish you not grant this wish is the operating theory behind most warped wishes.
