I just made a tiny-little change to the Submariners article...

Bob originally wrote "They don't discuss their Creatures from the Black Lagoon." I've changed that to "As a rule, they don't discuss their Creatures from the Black Lagoon... but there are always a few people who flaunt what they've become."

Why? Because I did a render of %[link=http://www.fenspace.net/index.php5?title=File:Helene_Aronnax.png]one of those "Creatures"]. She's an open character for whoever wants to develop her beyond "http://www.fenspace.net/index.php5?titl ... ne_Aronnax]Hélène Aronnax, biomodded Submariner and fashion model."

I just took the collected notes about station %[link=http://www.fenspace.net/index.php5?title=Colony]Colony], added a few logical extrapolations, and turned them into a real article. That takes another stub off the list.

(I was tempted to list JMC as one of their allies, but didn't because they're a "player-character" group...)

Edit: Oh, and I gave the http://www.fenspace.net/index.php5?titl ... ty_Service]Baileys a place to call home.

New Category for all the artists out there!

Incompletely-populated as yet - so far, I've only added the Open Characters that qualify plus The Magic School Bus. I'll add the Hackers and Mads that qualify before I logoff and get back to work...

Added the "Image Requested" category to the rest of the un-illustrated characters, except for a few AIs that were listed as having no set avatar.

I don't expect this category to ever become empty - there are too many characters and ships contributed by folks who left before giving us detailed descriptions, for one thing. This is just a place to list the pages that might be of interest to folks whose talents are in drawing, photography, or 3D-modeling software...

I've just tagged all the unillustrated spacecraft with the Image Requested tag.

Again, I don't expect this category to ever become empty... but it would be nice to see a few more relevant images on the FenWiki.

Yes, I'm working on LoGG. Have some background for chapter 4 - BA gave me the idea and I ran with it.

(If somebody wants to add in the other 16 members of the unit - four more pilots and 12 various specialists - feel free... but these three are the ones who are probably going to show up in the story.)

Hey Rob? 3 questions for you.

Oh wait... they'd be for BA, Really.

1) Do you mind if I take some hacks at some of this stuff, to wit the Peacemaker 'carriers' and F-EZigs?

2) Do the Peacemakers carry the F-EZigs in 'belly bays' much like it did the F-84 during Project FICON?

3) Would you mind if I made some changes to the overall F-EZig hull form? For one, the drive type specified wouldnt need an external fuel tank, and even if you did have one you prolly wouldnt want it hanging out the way it is on the EZ Rocket...

The FE-Zigs are supposed to be armed with a bellymounted coilgun, that probably replaces the external fueltank.

well, on the plus side I found a free model so I didnt have to do all the work myself... on the minus... I dont like the texture very much. and its still USAF livery since Ben hasn't noticed/answered back yet

Sorry guys.  Things have been kinda hairy on my end.  :p
The primary finish of most Roughrider ships (with the notable exception of Blackbirds) is mirror-finish chrome in honor of the Apollo Astronauts, whose capsules were finished in a similar manner.  On the Peacemaker, it'll still have the blacked-out area over the nose simply to keep any glare from the Sun out of the command crew's collective faces.  Of course, this is gonna be one of those matte black finishes.
The Air Force roundels should be replaced with Republic of Texas flags and the SAC shield with the Gonzalez Banner.
Every Peacemaker is a flagship, so it would only be appropriate that the Unit Patch would be proudly displayed as tail art.
And, of course, replace USAF and US AIR FORCE with RR and ROUGH RIDERS.
(EDIT: Oh yeah, and nix the checker marks on the landing gear doors, tail-fin tips, and the yellow on the propeller hubs and engine intakes.  I don't think I've ever seen a picture of a B-36 like that before and it looks ghastly to my eyes.)
F-EZigs are carried on pylons under the wings, between each engine (with the last ones outboard of the fusion torch engines).  Properly fitted, a Peacemaker can touch down and take off at a 'Dane-side airfield with its F-EZig accompaniment docked.
By all means, Star, hack away.  Smile  And I don't lay sole claim to the F-EZigs.  If I like what I see, I'll just say, "Yeah, Roughriders got those, too."  Smile
One final thing... Ben wouldn't be so evil as to make that many people operate on a forward-deployed basis like that... He'd give them several small facilities, hidden in the Belt on which they can rest, recuperate... and, when needed, scramble and come flying like bats outta hell.  It wouldn't even have to be an asteroid.  It could be a small space station.  Nothing huge, probably on the same scale as the ISS because it would have food, living quarters, plus parts and munitions for the entire squadron.  (At this point, I'm gonna say that a typical Roughrider Squadron is two Blackbirds, twelve F-EZigs, and a Peacemaker.  Peacemaker carries eight F-EZigs each and each BB piggybacks two more - their hulls are so short, after all.)
Long duration configuration on a Peacemaker would probably be three-of-four modular bays fitted with a living unit (racks for the entire crew plus eight fighter pilots, plus galley and hygiene) and one heavy missile unit (incase they run across something really tough).
For more flavor, Peacemakers, despite being well built machines, are quirked to break down in some bizarre way.  However, during the design phase Ben did foresee a need for them to be easy to work on.  Therefore, most breakdowns can be repaired in-flight by the flight engineer.  Therefore, you can have the engineer grumbling about some repair he/she just finished up (easy to work on, yes - convenient, no).
For the flight engineer... you could use that character I thought up that riffed off of All Purpose Cultural Catgirl Nuku Nuku... she was the one that started out as a farm girl who just wanted to help her dad out by making sure the tractor never broke down again... and got herself a very unique kind of catgirl biomod.  (The 'bio' part of that is debatable as she is roughly 20% cybernetic now.)  Ah, yes!  Here she is: http://drunkardswalkforums.yuku.com/topic/5426
Someday I am really gonna have to do a better job getting some of this stuff wikified so it's not a big question mark.  :p
EDIT2:
Just for scale, Star.  Nothing really brings home the sense of scale on this thing like this picture.  Yes, those are chairs they're sitting in.

Thanks for the input BA....

Hmm, Though I am slightly worried about how do you get the pilots in and out of their craft if we're gonna underwing mount. The maintenance 'crawltube' in the wing? would work for that part, but if you needed to rearm during a patrol it would be a cast iron B****. You really wern't expecting them to have to rearm in flight, were you?
Okay, republic of Texas flags... Gonzalas banner?
this one, right?

Yes indeed.  The crawlspace is a pretty big one, especially at the wing roots.  Though I would imagine it gets claustrophobically small towards the end, so I'd imagine that only catgirl and 'eternal child' biomodded pilots wouldn't mind using the pylons near the wingtips.
As for rearming... it's not like they'd do it under acceleration.  Rearming should be a fairly simple process - by its very nature it has to be.  I can't see the absence of a gravity well and atmosphere presenting that much of a challenge.  Get the gunnery crew out there in EVA suits and it could probably be done in as little as thirty minutes.
And yes, that is indeed the Gonzalez Banner.  Smile

*bump*

The lovely thing about an artist's impression is that it can stand in for something similar.

The lovely thing about the image collection at the European Southern Observatory is that the images are available under a CC "Attribution 3.0 Unported" license, which is compatible with the FenWiki's CC "Attribution NonCommercial 3.0 Unported" license.

Put those two thoughts together, and what do you get? A collection of images that we can use on the FenWiki, as long as we give attribution - like so.

I've added some to the FenWiki already, mostly on the pages that they're actually images of. But I've only scratched the surface... Here's a list of some artist's impressions from the ESO collection that haven't been used on the FenWiki... yet:

I think I've clobbered quite a few of those I'm responsible for, though they'll need clean-up.

I would suggest putting this "non story parts" into the discussion section of the page. They do not fit into the story page.

I'm assuming you're talking about this page:
http://www.fenspace.net/i...5?title=User:Ace_Dreamer
If you are, then I thought the page was clear enough to read, consolidating everything I've put into the wiki (as whole articles) in one place.  I'd be interested in ways of improving it.
If you are referring to individual stories, which have an 'Open' section, which is effectively Meta/OOC on them, I'd prefer to add a second linked article with that information, rather than using the discussion tab - things on the discussion tab of wiki pages are often over-looked (by me, anyway).
I'm interested in ways of making things more readable, and useful.

I just did a bit of minor cleanup on the FenWiki - nothing that folks would notice unless they went looking for changes, but the new category should give us a bit of legal protection.

Speaking off... Since my wiki=fu is weak, I've tagged the new entry for Boarding Torpedos with the Request for cleanup so someone with better chops than I can make it looks more like the other pages it should be a part of.

My wiki-fu is weak too, but I went and added the Ariete (only one "t") class entry to keep the number of emply links that are my fault at a minimum...

Hey, look! New content on the "Fenspace Travel Guide" page! (shock! gasp!)

Mind you, there's still plenty of work to be done on that page. (And it could stand a few images, too. I did just download a freebie tiki lounge...)

I just took two Open Characters off of the "Image Requested" list.

Before anyone asks: No, that isn't a default Genesis figure. Yes, the lighting is supposed to be odd.

The lighting in the other image, OTOH, was a happy accident. (And, yes, I did decide that Ms. Ingless is Hispanic. Not everybody who's Up is white, after all...)
