- Wiregeek - 10-28-2008 anti-apple bigotry amuses me. since Apple has Spiral Power, and Microsoft doesn't.. but Tengen Toppen Desktop Marketshare just don't scan right.. "No can brain today. Want cheezeburger." From NGE: Nobody Dies, by Gregg Landsman http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5579457/1/NGE_Nobody_Dies - Necratoid - 10-28-2008 "anti-apple bigotry"? I pointed out Lain and Chobit (cannon)... find other series with Apple being the world power software company... and I'll show you a technological nightmare/screwed up world series. If anyone is an "anti-apple bigot " is Apple. Appel itself keeps paying people to make Apple the dominant force in computing in these anime. I highly suspect that the HackSign world was one where Apple Dominated Computing was taken down by Pluto's kiss and that THE WORLD is Apple's new software (its immune to viruses and can make you end up wish you lived in Lain's land where you can get microchip drug trips before getting your mind stolen/formatted). So if anyone is an "anti-apple bigot" is Apple's own marketing department. - Wiregeek - 10-28-2008 ok, can you point to any sort of proof or even reliable statement that Apple paid an anime production to Quote:make Apple the dominant force in computing in these anime. I find that highly doubtful. "No can brain today. Want cheezeburger." Anybody who believes his computer is immune to viruses because it's running a particular operating system is either misled or deluded. It doesn't matter what OS you run; it's vulnerable. -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Whether its nuclear weapons (spies) or power (chernobyl) to OS's. - Morganite - 10-29-2008 Nothing I recall about the manga or anime of Chobits indicates any actual relationship to Apple. I believe that comment was a joke. Actually the only anime I've seen where something's obviously an Apple reference was in Buttobi CPU, where they were the villains... In any case, I still think power switches should not be put places where one might push them by accident... *spoiler dodging vagueness!* ... let alone what sort of switch it is in the Chobits manga. On .hack, I was under the impression that Pluto's Kiss was supposed to have taken down everything running on every OS? Which would be quite a trick, but still. Anti-apple comment time! : I thought the joke was that there were no viruses for macs because there weren't enough macs to be worth the effort... ![]() I used to just find the Mac OS cumbersome and difficult to operate, but these days it's their ad campaigns that make me unwilling to use a Mac unless Apple loses money in the process. -Morgan, might make an exception for cute female non-evil Macs... - OpMegs - 10-29-2008 Quote: Morganni wrote:Emphasis mine. This is pretty much why I don't use a Mac. There's a fine line between "this is better and you want it because of that" and "this is better and unless you use it, you suck", which I find the "I'm a Mac and I'm a PC" ads to run straight over, screaming profanity. ...on that note. *ninja vanish into obscurity* --- "Oh, silver blade, forged in the depths of the beyond. Heed my summons and purge those who stand in my way. Lay waste." - CattyNebulart - 10-29-2008 Whats with all the hate? (Hate Yuku, ate post.) Clearly the only OS worth running is Unununium, on Vector hardware. Sure it needs a little more development but I'm sure Aperture Sciences will do their usuall outstanding job on it. ...Why am I getting this sudden feeling of doom? Oh well as long as it kills Yuku first. E: "Did they... did they just endorse the combination of the JSDF and US Army by showing them as two lesbian lolicons moving in together and holding hands and talking about how 'intimate' they were?" B: "Have you forgotten so soon? They're phasing out Don't Ask, Don't Tell." - Necratoid - 10-29-2008 I'm basing the THE WORLD being an Apple product on their 'I'm immune to viruses and invincible' attitude that a seen label. The whole better than anything attitude is Apple itself in my experience. Apple OSs are compatible with Windows programs... meaning they run many Windows without much issue. The opposite is not at all true. Apple software will not run on Windows... because it is programmed not to. If you make a program that takes down the Apple OSes... then Windows will go with it, because if you leave out the vanity lines of Apple code... its PC compatible. Its the speed at which a new 'virus proof', uber OS came out that makes me think that the Company that released the UBer OS is the one that realeased the virus. However, it requires only a small leap of faith to go from noticing all non THE WORLD applications (THE WORLD has a neural interface helm) on that operating system are done with a One Button Mouse, to thinking its an Apple OS. That the Uber operating system only has one game on it.... that screams the power exclusivity. That screams Apple... or Geico. If you pay attention to in many anime's they practice the not quite subtile art of gratuitous advertising no jutsu. Coca-Cola is EVERYWHERE in anime. Pizza Hut is everywhere also... even in heavily altered timelines... like Code Geisst. If you pay attention Apple one bite missing, green apples appear on many many a monitor in animes. The device not the program. Apple is showing it sponsors anime all the time. While I realize that Apple was THE graphics design computer for a while and handles many business computing needs (I'm not saying they are useless at all) they are the single most insulting company in marketing.... consistently. Also, they are really, really annoying with the applications that do get to PCs. Quicktime. Just Quicktime.... no full screen for you. Do you wish to install ITunes? That will be $1 dollar a song. Everytime you want it anywhere, on every device you own... or if your computer crashes. Remember buy hundreds of songs easily... an replace them for full price every time. Before the very insulting and conflicting commercials (some that actually counter each other) of the "I'm a" commercials... there were other ads. The artsy fartsy 'Think different' ones... the early '80s Olympic if your not using a MAC you are stuck in the novel 1984 one... The buy our upgradable monitor with diskdrive MAC that was sold not on basis of what it could do... no that would make sense. It was sold based on it being tangerine colored. Apple fanboys mutated into cultists long ago... Just to keep this post useful to the thread itself... See the dimensionally displaced warrior tackle a new challenge.
