RE: Crossovers that should be: Here we go again - Labster - 08-21-2025

I just had the concept that Japari Park (Kemono Friends) is actually set on Lincoln Island (Jules Verne's The Mysterious Island).  The sandstar could be generated by a device left by Captain Nemo in an aborted attempt to harness the volcano before it erupted, causing the weird effects like Friends and Ceruleans.  Later on, someone builds a theme park here to safeguard endangered beastgirls species, but observes the strange phenomena of the island.  I think there's enough here to build a fic, in that there would be more stuff to explore, maybe even finding the remnants of Nemo's lab and Granite House.  Maybe a way to contact other humans, or at least weird technology.  There are two islands in the book, and two in the anime.

Or, alternatively, if you add the idea that Evangelion was supposed to be the sequel to Nadia and run with it... well, there's a reason to have no other humans and monstrous blobs.  (It makes explaining book!Nemo's death and/or whatever the hell the Island Arc was much harder, though.)

This isn't a "should be", it's an "already is":

The Groke has tracked down her lost children, who have been trapped by wizards into working as prison guards of all things.

Snufkin sucks his pipe. "Everyone knows that people who hang around in prisons develop bad habits. Can't stand the things myself."

Today, we've secretly swapped Booker (Bioshock Infinite) with Booger (Revenge of the Nerds.) Let's see which who causes the biger disruption!

In terms of "it's so obvious, I'm not surprised nobody saw it", I would rank that way ahead of those fics (at least, I assume Harry Potter and the Silvertongue's Aid wasn't the only one, even before it got deleted) that identified the dementors with the Spectres of Indifference.
