my father decided to pressure-wash the roof today, and while he was doing so, slipped and fell. The rope attached to his harness had enough slack in it that it got tangled around his body, more specifically around his neck while he was falling - head first. If he hadn't managed to catch one of the beams while he was falling, then he either would have ended up hanging himself by accident with his safety rope, or, if it had snapped, he would have gone head-first for a fall of two stories onto the paving stones of the patio. It resulted in me being late to work today due to needing to be present to call emergency services in case something went wrong - again.

By the time he finally finished and I left for work, he had fallen a total of four more times, none of them resulting in another slide down the roof, thankfully, and nearly fallen another six times. Despite all attempts to convince him to hire a service to do the work instead, or let someone else help him, he refused assistance. He also did not have his phone on him to call emergency services himself if he ended up dangling from the roof by his harness, suspended by his safety rope - and such an experience could have lasted for a few hours until someone got home to notice.

All things considered, calling it 'good news' that this new and very unwanted source of stress isn't work-related is sarcasm.
