What's the codec of choice... - Bob Schroeck - 10-07-2009

...these days for Matroska/MKV files? Looks like I need to install one to watch some of my videos.

Thanks!

Not sure, since I typically just install the CCCP, available here:

http://www.cccp-project.net/

It can play just about anything, including MKVs.

Re: Codec of Choice - SilverFang01 - 10-07-2009

I use a combination of ffdshow and VLC media player for all my codec needs.

ffdshow: http://www.ffdshow.info/

VLC media player: http://www.videolan.org/

I hope this helps.

I wish to point out that CCCP Codec pack has dropped the Zoom Player from its lineup.

Don't get me wrong, CCCP is, in my opinion, the best thing around.

I always download the K-Lite codec pack. It does everything.

Again, thanks!
