What I Did With My Afternoon, 10 April 2011 - Bob Schroeck - 04-11-2011 Peg and I went to a cherry blossom festival held at Branch Brook Park, in Newark, NJ today. The real festival stuff will be happening next weekend, but they're predicting rain for that date this far out. So just in case, Peg and I decided to go look at the blossoms today, even though most of the trees are still barely budding, and if the weather is good next weekend after all, we'll go back for the organized festivities. The link there goes to my Flickr account and the pics I took. Fortunately, the park has a wide variety of cherry species and reportedly has a 4-week blooming season, as opposed to the 2-week ones you get where the cherry population is more homogeneous. Now I have to learn the "sakura" song for next weekend. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - robkelk - 04-11-2011 Bob Schroeck Wrote:Now I have to learn the "sakura" song for next weekend.Just don't mix it up with the "Sakura Taisen" song - it's a great opening theme, but a bit odd to sing at a cherry blossom viewing... -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Adversaries remain citizens of the same state, common subjects of the same sovereign, servants of the same law." - Michael Ignatieff, addressing Stanford University in 2012 - LilFluff - 04-11-2011 Sounds like more fun than doing taxes. On the other hand I'm pleased to have had those come out much better than I had budgeted for. And Geki! Teikoku Kagekidan might not be the traditional sakura viewing song, but it's a nice bouncy song. ----- Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. - Black Aeronaut - 04-11-2011 Though if you do feel up to it... That's what tongue-in-cheek is for! (^_^) |
