May Day at Alison and John's - Bob Schroeck - 05-01-2011

We spent the day today at Alison and John's annual May Day party, which is always a cookout and picnic and a lot of fun in general. And in addition to the food, there are two other highlights that are present at this party every year -- the maypole

Heh. My birthday is May 1st. I used to get May Day jokes on occasion.

A long time ago when I was in college, my friend Bruce suggested taking a Soviet theme to my birthday as a joke. I could stand up on a balcony of the old Denton County courthouse (because it bore a vague resemblance to the Kremlin), wear a fur hat and salute as toy RC tanks trundled past on the sidewalk. ^_^

Never did do it, but the idea amused me.
