Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows Trailer - Logan Darklighter - 07-18-2011 Well, I liked the first one. This one actually looks to be just as good, if not better. (Professor Moriarty!) http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/w...gameofshadows/ - dark seraph - 07-19-2011 *watches* ... I need to see this so badly, I loved the last film, even if a lot of people booed it for not being a acurate version of Holmse and Watson. ?? - Rev Dark - 07-19-2011 Saying it is not an accurate version of Holmes and Watson is like saying it isn't an accurate version of Batman. Between the original works, derivative works, books, plays, movies and interpretive dances there is so much baggage that you can take the duo in any direction you want them to go. I enjoyed Guy Ritchie's take on Holmes (though his super-fight powers seem inconsistent), just as I enjoy Jeremy Brett's manic wild-eyed-ferret Holmes or Peter Cushing's smarter-and-more-civilized-than-everyone-else Holmes. Hell, even the modern BBC Sherlock has a lot going for it. Of course with Stephen Fry as Mycroft Holmes, there is already a reason to hit the theater. - dark seraph - 07-19-2011 Rev Dark Wrote:Saying it is not an accurate version of Holmes and Watson is like saying it isn't an accurate version of Batman.Which is why I liked the first film, Watson was some one that could actually keep up Holmes instead of a fat goit that was constantly left in the dark and had to play guessing games. oh... and RDJ did a good job with Holmes ego and tendency to indulge in all sorts of strange things. Watson: ... you know what your drinking is meant for eye surgery, don't you? - Wiregeek - 07-19-2011 RDJ is perfect as Iron Man, because he's an absurdly rich egotistical alcoholic womanizer. RDJ is perfect as Holmes, because he's an eccentric (that's bughouse crazy if you aren't rich) socially awkward ass. ...huh. "No can brain today. Want cheezeburger." From NGE: Nobody Dies, by Gregg Landsman http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5579457/1/NGE_Nobody_Dies - Ebony - 07-19-2011 I enjoyed the Guy Ritchie film, but I confess that I'm something of a Holmesian purist. Brett's portrayal is the closest I've seen to the original stories, and I happen to enjoy those immensely (even though some of them get trippy in ways that only the BBC during the 80s could get). However, I look at Holmes much in the same way I look at Shakespeare; you can put all sorts of spin on the stories and still have an excellent production. I'll definitely watch it, and most likely enjoy it. Ebony the Black Dragon http://ebony14.livejournal.com "Good night, and may the Good Lord take a Viking to you." |
