Order of the Stick Kickstarter thing - Jorlem - 01-23-2012 I don't know if any of you guys read OotS, but I figured it was likely, and that at least one of you might be interested in this. Rich Burlew, the guy who does OotS, has started up a Kickstarter donation thing in order to put the books back in print. Its very near already to the minimum required (after two days), but as donation rewards, he's offered pdfs of backstories for a few characters (O-Chul is the only one listed, but there will be three more, as other donation rewards have been met.) for whoever puts in $10 or more into the pot. The link is here, for any of you who are interested. I hope no one minds my putting this here. ----- Stand between the Silver Crystal and the Golden Sea. I was worried about sounding too ad-like. ----- Stand between the Silver Crystal and the Golden Sea. We know you. You're not "Salesman F. Nike" trying to post through the membership request system. Kickstarter projects of possible interest to the forum membership are not considered "ads". -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Jorlem - 01-24-2012 Bob Schroeck Wrote:Okay, how can I say this? ----- Stand between the Silver Crystal and the Golden Sea. Wow. Mr. Burlew has been adding additional rewards, and has been making regular graphs charting the donation progress. This is actually pretty fun to watch. As of this post, he has raised $177,065, and will be adding more prize packages in the next day or two. (And I had to correct this number four times as I was typing this post.) Also, just in the interests of completionism, this is the picture that is at the top of the Kickstarter page, and is referenced in one of the graphs. ----- Stand between the Silver Crystal and the Golden Sea. And did anyone look at the pledges, and how many rewards have already been sold out? Someone singlehandedly pledged at least $5000. Three people pledged $1250. Yow. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Jorlem - 01-29-2012 Mystery Prize #2 has been announced: As of this post, the total raised is $235,327. Also, as of this post, the counter has passed the $255,000 mark, so Don't Split the Party is going to be added to the rewards soon. I wouldn't be surprised if that speeds the growth back up, as people adjust their pledges for the new packages. ----- Stand between the Silver Crystal and the Golden Sea. On the other hand, if you pledge $10 at this point, you'll get a magnet, an original PDF story titled "How the Paladin Got His Scar", an original PDF story about man-of-action Julio Scoundrel, an original PDF story with the OOTS as 'Dim Sun' characters (based upon D&D's Dark Sun campaign setting), an original PDF prequel story titled "Sir Francois and the Dragon (featuring his herald, Elan!), and three short (8-12 page) stories based upon requests by people who pledged $1,250 or more. As the amount pledged grows, even more extras may be added. Since I already own all the books, I plan to wait until Rich either adds something I want to the rewards or it becomes obvious that he isn't adding anything I want, at which point I'll settle for a $10 pledge so I can get the magnet and PDF bundle. ---------------------------------------------------- "Anyone can be a winner if their definition of victory is flexible enough." - The DM of the Rings XXXV - Jorlem - 02-01-2012 I currently have $25 dollars pledged. I originally had $10, but I decided I wanted the art print. I might have pledged more, if I didn't already own all of the books. (Also, I do highly recommend reading OoTS. It is an excellent piece of storytelling.) As of this post, the Kickstarter total stands at $352,990. ----- Stand between the Silver Crystal and the Golden Sea.
