Not a good day... - robkelk - 09-11-2013

... and I can't talk about most of it. But I have to vent. What I can say is that we had a health and safety incident at work today. No fatalities, thank the gods. And that's about all I can say. But if I seem distracted or not my usual self for the next few days, this is why - I have this more important matter to attend to.

My apologies in advance if I come off snarky or brusque at any time for the rest of the week.

As a U.S. government safety and health inspector, it is completely understandable. You mentioned no fatalities, so I am guessing there are injuries. So no need to say more. As long as you're in one piece, all is to the good.

Can't talk as in - "Not allowed"?  Or as in - "too difficult or traumatic to think about"?
Either way - sorry to hear you had to experience whatever happened. If you're allowed to talk about it and need to but you feel you shouldn't in open forums due to squick or something, feel free to vent in private.

Ord, I'm fine, thanks for asking.

Logan, can't as in "not allowed".

Don't worry, Rob, we'll give you the room you need until your equilibrium returns.

I think I'm centered again... We've done some investigation. This was an unforseeable occurrence, and won't affect anyone else. The prognosis for the person affected is positive.

So almost everything's okay, and that "almost" will go away in a while.

And that's all I'll ever be allowed to say about it...

Sounds like the second best possible result to me.
(First best is, obviously, the lack of any occurrence at all.)
Glad to hear things worked out.

Well it's good to here that things didn't get as bad as they could have been.
Hopefully you won't have to deal with something like this again for quite some time.

I'm quite certain you did all you could in unfortunate circumstances. It sounds like all involved will emerge wiser from the ordeal, even if a little bruised and wary.
