Internet Engineers Plan a Fully Encrypted Internet - Logan Darklighter - 11-20-2013 Responding to reports of mass surveillance, engineers say they’ll make encryption standard in all Web traffic. I'll be interested to see where this goes. For right now I'll say - it's about damn time. - Labster - 11-20-2013 *clap clap clap* Though for me running low end sites, it's kind of a pain to have to pay some company for an SSL cert to prove your identity, when all I wanted to do was encrypt content. Especially when there have already been some web of trust issues with said companies. This idea is cool and all, but it does make it harder for a hacker to just put up a server and a webpage in his hacker cave. -- ∇×V - Morganite - 11-20-2013 Well, if you just need encryption and not a trust chain, generating your own certificates is AFAIK not super-difficult. Though I'd hope there were some changes in the way browsers indicated secure content if that were to become common. -Morgan. |
