RIP Russell Johnson - robkelk - 01-17-2014

MSN is reporting that http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=847737]Russell Johnson passed away yesterday, at age 89.

I'd recently re-watched This Island Earth - well, the MST3K version - although I suspect most folks will remember him from Gilligan's Island. Odd how he played characters with quiet dignity in both stories...

Odd, What sticks in my mind most regarding MST3K is that he pushes the protagonist and his love interest out of the car and drives off so that the death ray kills them and spares him. So, not very dignified from this side of the gallery. Smile
As for Gilligan's Island, I recall someone, probably Shane, telling us that since the millionaire's wife was on the island with him, and the two seamen were obviously gay, that left the girl next door and the movie star without a mate. There's a reason why he never fixed a three foot hole in the boat...
