New Internet "Law" Akin to Poe's: Evil's Law - Foxboy - 07-21-2015 Recently someone was getting "harrassed" on Twitter by a notorious Far-Left poster. (So far left, Bernie Sanders looks like Ronald Reagan) So, this fellow who RP Tweets as Dr. Evil turned her Narrative back on her. He thought on it a bit and formulated his law.: Quote:Evils Law: Ideologues are unable to defend against their own ideology [without] a defense they have previously dismissed. The tweet includes a screen-cap of him using this tactic. ''We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.'' -- James Nicoll - hazard - 07-21-2015 That tweet and/or page appears not to exist. - robkelk - 07-21-2015 Try copying the URL, pasting it into your address bar, removing the period from the end, and then launching the page. -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Adversaries remain citizens of the same state, common subjects of the same sovereign, servants of the same law." - Michael Ignatieff, addressing Stanford University in 2012 - hazard - 07-21-2015 Well, that worked. Hmmm, a little too little data on the actions of the left winger, sadly. Still, entirely plausible. And those that use crazy arguments really don't have any reply to their own stupidity. Mostly because the only reply possible is 'that's nuts.' - Ankhani - 07-21-2015 I believe the "notorious Far-Left poster" referred to is Sarah Nyberg, a vocal critic of "Gamergate". I don't want to look any further, here be dragons. --- The Master said: "It is all in vain! I have never yet seen a man who can perceive his own faults and bring the charge home against himself." >Analects: Book V, Chaper XXVI - robkelk - 07-22-2015 Now that I've had some time to think about this, I have this to offer: Back on Usenet, we called this "PKB". It isn't new; heck, it predates the Internet. -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them.
