Vikings have invaded Ontario! - robkelk - 06-25-2016

Okay, it's more of a friendly visit:

They're confusing "Vikings possibly made it past L'Anse-aux-Meadows" and "Vikings probably made it past L'Anse-aux-Meadows," alas... but, hey - any excuse to go take photos of a longship is a good one. (Tomorrow. I'm busy today.)

Yeah, yeah ... everybody always says they come in friendship -- until it's time to bring out the axes.
By the way, BBC's Timewatch recorded a 2007 expedition by 65 people in a longship from Denmark to Dublin

Ohhh....  I'd noticed, from your original link, that the map seemed to indicate the longship would be going to the western tip of Lake Superior, but I didn't guess it'd be part of this.
Hmmm; Bay City, projected 15-17 July -- definitely a sight worth seeing.

"A sight worth seeing" is what I'm thinking. My choices are the largest city in Canada on the Canada Day weekend (crowded, busier than usual, and such short notice that who knows whether a hotel room is available), someplace in the US (involves standing in line at Customs for a ridiculous amount of time), or a small town just up the road in September (can get there and back in the same day and still have time to take photos). I think this is a no-brainer for me.
