According to a radio report this morning (the day after Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention), trending searches on Merriam-Webster include demagogue and demigod.

Deliciously appropriate, given how many successful demagogues manage to convince their chosen sheeple that they're demigods. You could even say the words have become related.
