Sailor Moon/Magic: the Gathering - Shepherd - 02-22-2018 Ryuugi is still on his Sailor Moon kick, this time with some Usagi as a Planeswalker snippets. So now we get to see some of his awesome Usagi characterization through the lens of Magic: the Gathering. Quote:Emrakul and Usagi are both thieving magpies, just in different ways. Emrakul is a corruptive force that spreads through bodies and minds and twists them both until they're more like her. She's Colorless, a force that's so alien that it can honestly take control of others without realizing it, because she's not wholly certain that anyone else is real*. In terms of mechanics, this is perhaps best exemplified by her cards; she takes extra turns or she takes control of your turns; when she takes possession of things, it's a madness, a terror, and a loss of control.https://forums.spacebattles.com/posts/44488405/ RE: Sailor Moon/Magic: the Gathering - Labster - 02-23-2018 I'm not really up to date on MtG lore, as I stopped playing during 4th Edition. But this: "[Usagi]'s not Colorless, she's every color." That part is obvious from the original anime. All of the senshi have a color, but Usagi's final form is pure white. It's the composition of all of the colors, and the expression of all of the wishes of her allies/court. She was even supposed to be a white-haired bunny until editors made Takeuchi-sensei change it. Usagi isn't white in the sense of MtG; that would be more of a yellow. But I would say that the mapping is pretty good from sailor magic to MtG magic: Minako is white, Rei is red, Ami is blue, Minako is green, and Mamoru is black. Only the last one is a bit of a stretch, and that's because MtG black has a more eeeevil tone to it. At least it did when I still played. But these are all based on universal symbolism anyway, e.g. 火星 is the fire star is the red planet is Mars is destructive is passionate. RE: Sailor Moon/Magic: the Gathering - Shepherd - 02-23-2018 I believe Ryuugi indicated in another post that Black is selfishness (among other things), and that Usagi is technically being selfish when she warps the universe to protect her friends and bring about a happy ending NO MATTER WHAT.
