RE: A line I could never write a story to do justice to - Mamorien - 11-02-2018 Actually, Bob has already announced a Step for which, in my considered opinion, this line would be perfect: The Borribles. Michael de Larrabeiti, of honored memory, Wrote:We are the Wendles of Wandsworth town! That's from the muck epic's beginning, the tale of the Great Rumble Hunt, as is "River, River" (sung by, I believe, Orococco as The Silver Belle Flower begins its journey). The Borribles Go for Broke has at least two songs -- old Benny's ode to the boozing life (whose opening lines are escaping me) and Inspector Sussworth's "There's Law and Order in My Blood" (to whose onset one of the Rumble Hunt crew reacts "Blimey, he's actually going to sing..."). The head of the SBG gets another gleefully extra villain song in Across the Dark Metropolis, in which he lays out his plans for "Operation Catsmeat" (a general massacree of every Borrible whose ears he can't trim and probably some he can): Quote:It's a catsmeat operation Sadly, my copies of the trilogy are currently buried in the inaccessible part of the Loomis household library, behind boxes we've not unpacked in years, but with our upcoming move to smaller quarters, they'll be uncovered before too long. RE: A line I could never write a story to do justice to - Bob Schroeck - 11-03-2018 "I'm your worst nightmare, Sussworth -- Chaos with a badge." RE: A line I could never write a story to do justice to - Mamorien - 12-31-2018 (11-03-2018, 04:49 PM)Bob Schroeck Wrote: "I'm your worst nightmare, Sussworth -- Chaos with a badge." My brain just bubbled up something even better he could say, though I'm not sure even Doug would say it (maybe especially not Doug): "Lighten up, Francis." RE: A line I could never write a story to do justice to - robkelk - 12-31-2018 "Lighten up" is relative - we all know the stories about dour-faced people who, when asked to smile for a portrait/photo, reply "I am smiling." Bob's line is far worse, from Sussworth's point of view. Sussworth likes order, which make Doug his antithesis, and the badge makes it difficult-to-impossible for Sussworth to get rid of Doug. (Not impossible, mind you.) RE: A line I could never write a story to do justice to - Bob Schroeck - 01-01-2019 Sussworth does not simply like Order, he worships it, to the point that he loathes and abhors any kind of individuality or free-thinking. RE: A line I could never write a story to do justice to - Mamorien - 01-01-2019 (01-01-2019, 01:19 AM)Bob Schroeck Wrote: Sussworth does not simply like Order, he worships it, to the point that he loathes and abhors any kind of individuality or free-thinking. That's not an exaggeration, by the way. He says as much in that first villain song I mentioned: Detective Inspector Francis Sussworth, SBG Wrote:To make a new society Lyrics of Sussworth's Victory Song from the page linked, just one on a whole site including all the songs I mentioned and all the ones I didn't. (I still feel bad about missing out "Freedom's a Borrible's One Occupation".) (Mind, the finish line of Buffy's revelation would be lacking, but still.) |
