Gatesong for DW V - ordnance11 - 03-31-2004 Impossible Dream (The Quest) To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow And to run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong And to love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star This is my quest To follow that star No matter how hopeless No matter how far To fight for the right Without question or pause To be willing to march, march into hell For that heavenly cause And I know If I'll only be true To this glorious quest That my heart Will lie peaceful and calm When I'm laid to my rest And the world will be better for this That one man, scorned and covered with scars, Still strove with his last ounce of courage To reach the unreachable, the unreachable, The unreachable star And I'll always dream The impossible dream Yes, and I'll reach The unreachable star Seems to describe Doug to a tee. Plus it seems to fit this walk. __________________ Into terror!, Into valour! Charge ahead! No! If you're talking about a gatesong to enter DW V...well, I think this song has been mentioned elsewhere, but I cannot remember in what context. But I have to admit I've been thinking of it as the gatesong for this Step for some time. Kyrie - Mr. Mister Kyrie eleison - Kyrie eleison - Kyrie eleis - The wind blows hard against this mountainsiae Across the sea into my soul. It reaches into where I cannot hide Setting my feet upon the road. My heart is old it holds my memories My body burns a gemlike flame. Somewhere between the soul and soft machine Is where I find myself again. Kyrie eleison - down the road that I must travel Kyrie eleison - through the darkness of the night Kyrie eleison - where I'm going will you follow Kyrie eleison - on a highway in the light. When I was young I thought of growing old Of what my life would mean to me. Would I have followed down my chosen road Or only wished what I could be? This can be verified by the few folk who have copies of the very limited edition 3-CD set of the DW2 Original Soundtrack -- "Kyrie" is one of last songs on the third disk before you get into the bonus tracks... I don't think I'll ever actually use it as a gate song. It's too good as a theme. -- Bob --------- There's no wrong way to eat a Rhesus. |
