The House has a new Speaker... and he's black - robkelk - 10-03-2023

Liberal MP Greg Fergus elected Speaker of the House of Commons

That took less than a week. Here's hoping that this restores at least some of Canada's credibility on the world stage.

Quit bragging about how your country can actually elect a speaker.

We almost needed another Speaker this week, because the new Speaker did the worst possible thing a Speaker of the House could do: He acted in a partisan manner while presenting himself as Speaker.

He's apologized, he's had his metaphorical knuckles rapped by a committee of the House, and as long as it doesn't happen again he's allowed to remain in the job.
