Anybody here use BitLocker? - robkelk - 01-25-2026 Microsoft unlocks BitLocker for feds Quote:Last year, Redmond reportedly provided the FBI with encryption keys to unlock the laptops of Windows users charged in a fraud indictment. Workaround: Don't save your keys to your Microsoft Account, your OneDrive, or any other service controlled by Microsoft. RE: Anybody here use BitLocker? - classicdrogn - 01-25-2026 That seems like a basic security precaution, rather than a workaround, though? Why would anyone store their keys om a cloud service to begin with? A thumb drive that can be unplugged any time you don't actively need them sounds like a much better idea anyway... RE: Anybody here use BitLocker? - robkelk - 01-25-2026 It is a better idea, yes. Microsoft has set "save the key to the cloud" as the default, so it has to be changed manually. RE: Anybody here use BitLocker? - classicdrogn - 01-25-2026 Ah. Another one of those "Fuck the user experience, we're pushing our live service vision of the monetized future!" moments, then.
