The latest post to the SMOF panel thread, the one with Yuki, made me think of this, I can't remember if we've ever discussed it, and several searches of the Fenwiki result in no answer.
Is handwavium unique to Earth, or are there other civilizations out there using it?

Well, in that case... there is at least one artifact Out There that registers as a handwavium construct *and* is obviously non-human in origin.
