Fenspace IRC Channel - Bob Schroeck - 07-20-2010 M Fnord Wrote:join #fenspace on server irc.sandwich.net:6667. Open most hours, idlers welcome.-- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Rod.H - 07-21-2010 or for those with chatzilla embedded in their browser irc://irc.sandwich.net/%23fenspace - M Fnord - 07-31-2014 Operational note for those visiting #fenspace: On Saturday (8/2/14) sandwich.net IRC is moving completely over to SSL. Most modern clients will let you select SSL in the user preferences, so it's not a great hardship. Chatzilla users can connect using /sslserver irc.sandwich.net Mr. Fnord interdimensional man of mystery FenWiki - Your One-Stop Shop for Fenspace Information "I. Drink. Your. NERDRAGE!" - Rajvik - 08-01-2014 What do I need to change on my IRC mal, I've got it set to go right to fenspace without all the fuss as it currently is. - Dartz - 08-01-2014 What client do you use? There should be an option somewhere that lets you enable encyption, or enable SSL ________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? - Rajvik - 08-04-2014 mIRC....gods do i have to update the bastard gods now i'm being told i'm blocked as spam i'll download it and try, does it work well from pin drives? - Dartz - 08-04-2014 Hexchat man Much better. And free. Since that's not exactly helpful, however - take a look under your network list if you have it saved somewhere, or wherever mIRC stashes its connection options. It should be labelled as 'enable SSL' or 'enable secure connection' ________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? - Rajvik - 08-04-2014 hex chat doesnt like fed ex kinkos apparently and no love on the connections options - Rajvik - 08-04-2014 i am officially banned apparently - Dartz - 08-04-2014 You shouldn't be. Also. What's a kinko? I've never heard of one? ________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? - Rajvik - 08-04-2014 kinkos is a copy store, basically its a combination office supply store, copy store, and internet cafe without the cafe. i'm getting an IP ban from Snaphaus as a spambot - ECSNorway - 08-04-2014 I use Adium on the Mac as my IRC client. I selected "Enable SSL" in my connection listing for sandwich.net. It still says "ssl handshake failed" when I try to connect. -- Sucrose Octanitrate. Proof positive that with sufficient motivation, you can make anything explode. - HRogge - 08-04-2014 ECSNorway Wrote:I use Adium on the Mac as my IRC client. You changed the port to 6697? - ECSNorway - 08-04-2014 Quote:HRogge wrote:Don't think so! Some IRC networks tend to be a bit iffy on having properly valid cert's. ________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? - ECSNorway - 08-05-2014 Obviously enough, changing the port fixed the problem. Thanks for pointing it out. -- Sucrose Octanitrate. Proof positive that with sufficient motivation, you can make anything explode. - Dartz - 10-16-2014 FYI, sandwich seems to have disabled SSLv3 support. Without warning anyone about it. You will need a client that handles TLS now. ________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? - robkelk - 10-16-2014 There was plenty of warning - at least, there was in the IT security field: http://www.dfranke.us/posts/2014-10-14 ... pened.html http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cg ... -2014-3568 http://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2014-3567 http://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2014-3513 If you can still use SSLv3 anywhere, complain about it. -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. M I didn't even know Xchat only used SSLv3 and didn't offer an option for TLS. And I know a few people were having issues connecting to the channel anyway with SSL being required by the server now. I just thought I'd save some wondering on the part of other people. Hexchat, however, supports TLS. ________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? - ECSNorway - 10-16-2014 As does Adium, apparently, as I found out last night. -- Sucrose Octanitrate. Proof positive that with sufficient motivation, you can make anything explode. - Rajvik - 10-20-2014 frag so how can i get this TLS for IRC, or will i have to get yet ANOTHER chat setup - robkelk - 10-20-2014 You'll have to patch, upgrade, or change your client software. -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Adversaries remain citizens of the same state, common subjects of the same sovereign, servants of the same law." - Michael Ignatieff, addressing Stanford University in 2012 - Rajvik - 12-08-2014 appairently its back to being spam when i'm at FedEx Kinkos, no chat with you guys till after the new year. see you then or via pm's on various forums - Dartz - 08-11-2015 Does whoever set up the spamhaus filters for sandwich know that XBL really shouldn't be used to ban users because it has a tendency to trap a lot of dynamic IP's? Especially from people who happen to have subscriber-level NAT, like so many 4G carriers do here. That's three times it's happened. ________________________________ --m(^0^)m-- Wot, no sig? - JakeGrey - 10-05-2015 Is anyone else having trouble connecting right now? |
