Acyl Tries Purps: A Draft Syndesis Build - Acyl - 10-04-2009 Regen players and other folks, can you give me your opinion on this? It's a high-recharge, high-damage DM/Regen build. I seriously need advice on this, because this is new territory for me. See, I've always preached the virtues of budget IO builds. Without purples. But to hell with it. Syndesis is my oldest and favourite character. Once I finish my current IO project, my Inv tank, I'm thinking of pulling a Valles (or Terrence, for that matter), and simply investing all my inf earnings into this. Thoughts on the build? The end result here is 77.5% global recharge from IOs (meaning Hasten's about 20-30 seconds short of perma). With that much +rech and Hasten running, well, I figure it gives good milage on Regen's heals and click buffs. Attacks are all slotted with procs - again, with the rech, they can cycle pretty quickly. I realise, by the way, that it's possible to squeeze out another 10% global recharge by taking Laser Beam Eyes and slotting it with the ranged purple set, but that doesn't fit Syn's concept. I already have one power just for purp mule purposes - Boxing. Not sure I want a second. Note, I'm not too sure about the slotting for Midnight Grasp. What's there is just my best current take. Whether the 47% regen boost makes up for that or not is mainly your call, and I admit, Utena's died more often due to not having clickies than any other reason, so it may be that focusing on boosting the global hasten rate is more effective. I suppose this is more of an alternate "heal vs. recharge" build to consider than anything. But the frankenslotting in your original build is fiendishly effective. --- "Oh, silver blade, forged in the depths of the beyond. Heed my summons and purge those who stand in my way. Lay waste." - OpMegs - 10-21-2009 Also, on Midnight's Grasp, I'd suggest swapping out the proc for the additional Crushing Impact Acc/Damage piece. This leaves you with ED nerfed damage output and nudges your accuracy into the yellow sweet spot of juuuuuust below ED nerfage. --- "Oh, silver blade, forged in the depths of the beyond. Heed my summons and purge those who stand in my way. Lay waste." - Acyl - 10-21-2009 Thanks for looking at it Ops, I really appreciate the feedback. The build based on your Utena logic looks solid - very solid, in fact. It's just not the direction I'd be going in, I suspect. There's some things you have there that are good, but... On the subject of regen rate versus pure recharge, I'm liable to err on the side of, well, the recharge. Here's where I'm coming from. See, in a way, the pure recharge adds more global regen than regen set bonuses would...by getting Instant Healing and Dull Pain up way more often. As for Midnight Grasp...with all the purples in, the character has massive global accuracy, so individual acc slotting in the powers is not that great a concern. But the purples, of course, won't be in for a very long time - obviously they'll be the last thing. But even then, generally speaking you don't need that much global acc. With the enhancements as they are, and the fact the Focused Smite and Crushing Impact can be pure max-level frankenslotted enhancements since they aren't contributing bonuses...the power will be past or close enough to the ED line anyway, on damage. Given this, there's better milage in using a proc - especially one like Mako's or Cloud Senses with a high 20% trigger rate. The times it does go off will more than make up for the slight percentage dropoff in pure damage numbers. -- Acyl |
