My Turn: Improving Evangelia - Bob Schroeck - 09-03-2010 Okay, folks, now it's my turn to solicit advice. I've never done a major respec before, and I could really use some help. I'm pretty happy for the most part with Evangelia's build, but she's the second toon I ever had, and I made some mistakes and poor decisions in building her. I think I managed to mitigate most of them, but it's time that I finally correct all of them from the ground up. So I'm soliciting advice. Okay a few notes on what I want and what I don't want: First off, this is my best reconstruction of how I built her, based on the order of the powers in her lists, and my faint recollection of her last few levels. I am not wedded to the order of anything here, power acquisition or slot assignment or anything. Priority for the rebuild: Improving her endurance/recharge rate. That's always been her weakness, and I've had it rubbed in my face a few times in the last week or so. I'm willing to trade damage for endurance, but I'd like to keep her accuracy and defense/damage resistance close to their current levels. (Hell, if you can improve her toughness, please do so.) I'm going to get rid of her jump kick no matter what, as I never use it; I was considering a respec just to dump it. Now that I have the Veteran's Reward to do so, I want to slot her superjump at level 6. I want to keep all the attack powers in Broadsword. Confront would be nice but is not really needed. No purple IOs, please. I never did finish kitting her out with all the sets I wanted, which is why some powers have just IOs -- fill'em with whatever works. I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting something. If it comes to me, well. there'll be a post or comment. Terr, I know you gave me a lot of good advice, did I miss anything? In advance, thanks to everyone who helps. Also any IO's that fall into the same category. As long-standing a vet as you are, you probably have more respecs banked up than I do, and I have like 6+ available on even new alts. So what you do is, respec, slot powers how you currently have them, and leave your 10 most valuable IO/Set Enhancements in your Enhancement tray. When you're done with the respec, mail those to yourself. Rinse, lather, repeat, until you've saved in mail all the enhancements you want to keep. Then you can respec and do your final build. Saved myself a couple hundred million that way. ![]() --sofaspud --"Listening to your kid is the audio equivalent of a Salvador Dali painting, Spud." --OpMegs - Ankhani - 09-04-2010 You *can* move your enhancements around in the Respec. Just get your slots where they need to go, and fill in what pieces you have where you want them, and the rest where they fit pending replacement (if you have more than 10). Alternativly, you can slot the IOs you want to have in your build anywhere they fit, and then you can respec to shuffle around the order. It's a bit easier on the time/respecs required. I'll leave it to someone with Broadsword or Invul experience to actually do up a build, unless there's nothing showing up.. --- The Master said: "It is all in vain! I have never yet seen a man who can perceive his own faults and bring the charge home against himself." >Analects: Book V, Chaper XXVI - Sofaspud - 09-04-2010 Yeah, perhaps I should have clarified that. "For enhancements you don't want to lose but aren't going to use in your planned build" would have been better. --sofaspud --"Listening to your kid is the audio equivalent of a Salvador Dali painting, Spud." --OpMegs - Bob Schroeck - 09-04-2010 Oh, something I forgot -- Brawl has an empty slot because MIDS wouldn't let me put the Endurance Reduction IO there that the actual build has. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Star Ranger4 - 09-04-2010 Thats because brawl doesnt allow End Reduction in it anymore... - Bob Schroeck - 09-05-2010 Thanks, Dren -- this is exactly the kind of help I was looking for. Expensive isn't too much of a problem -- Eva's got about 130 million infl at the moment, and I can of course funnel funds to her from other toons. Interesting build; I never would have come up with some of those combinations... Hm. Swift at 6, Superjump at 14... what's the advantage of doing it that way instead of the other way around, if any? I was thinking of replacing Swift with Hurdle, actually, as she relies far more on superjumping than running. Oh, and for comparison, here're the bonuses from the original build; if these numbers are absolute, your build halves her general accuracy bonus (from 48% to 27%), which I'm not sure I'm comfortable with. The improved damage buffs, though... wow. Niiiiice. Likewise the defenses. Set Bonus Totals:

--------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Drenivian - 09-05-2010 well, the loss of accuracy does come with the change and loss of Tactics and Focussed Accuracy. and the Swift/Superjump at those levels were taken since there were no other powers that I wanted to take at those levels, Besides, Invuln adds a bit of Accuracy. And don't worry about jumpheight, Combat Jumping adds Jumpheight and Defence, its a win/win! ********************* In the epic rage of furious thunder legends create their tales when the twilight calls and the dark lord falls our glory will prevail
- Bob Schroeck - 12-01-2010 Okay, just a few notes I'm making as I actually do this respec with the advent of I19. Since the Fitness Pool is now inherent, I made some changes from Dren's suggestions. I took Superjump at 6 instead of Swift, and added Confront, Stealth and Invisibility since I discovered just how useful they all are and have been wanting them for her for a while now. I'll let you know how it comes out... -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Drenivian - 12-07-2010 Bob, just sat down to do some power crunching, and, well, are you really attached to Confront? I can drop Confront and Assault and get you both innate Resistance powers I did not have in the original build. ********************* In the epic rage of furious thunder legends create their tales when the twilight calls and the dark lord falls our glory will prevail
- Bob Schroeck - 12-07-2010 No, I'm not attached to Confront. I added it to Eva because I discovered it was useful while playing St. Trinian's Girl, but I went 50 levels without it, and can go without it again. But instead of dropping Assault, can you drop Invisibility instead and still get the same results? If not, go ahead; it's not a big deal. I do want Slice back, though -- I always thought of PBAoE attacks as one of Eva's strong points. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Drenivian - 12-07-2010 I had dropped Invis for Slice, since you can't attack while using Invis unless something breaks your stealth. Losing Assault will help balance the end drain you're getting from Stealth. And both Innate Resistance powers don't really need slots. ********************* In the epic rage of furious thunder legends create their tales when the twilight calls and the dark lord falls our glory will prevail

|-------------------------------------------------------------------|In the epic rage of furious thunder legends create their tales when the twilight calls and the dark lord falls our glory will prevail
- Bob Schroeck - 12-09-2010 Thanks, Dren. On quickly scanning, it looks good. But between the holidays and the fact that my copy of Mids now insists it's completing a reinstall over and over again when I start it up, I'm not sure if I'll actually have a chance to implement it before January... -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - OpMegs - 12-09-2010 When it comes to raw endurance numbers, I'll note that the Cardiac Incarnate boost is a lifesaver, as the Uncommon version boosts both end reduction (33% global) and resistance (20%), both of which Invul can use quite badly. --- "Oh, silver blade, forged in the depths of the beyond. Heed my summons and purge those who stand in my way. Lay waste." - Bob Schroeck - 12-10-2010 ...and which is my current development plan, as Eva's right now got level 1 Cardiac. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Bob Schroeck - 12-13-2010 ...and now as a result of the PUG Lady Grey taskforce I was on last night, she has a level 2 Cardiac (end/damage resistance). And Drenivian? With the last Numina in place, that first build rocks the house down. I may not even miss Slice now. Final mission of the LGTF, that last room: After we take down Dra'Gon, everyone gets dogpiled by L54 Rikti who start conning at red and get worse. Everyone uses up all their wakes and rezzes, everyone's on the ground. Except Eva. Eva is in the center of what looks like a Rikti mosh pit, swinging and spinning and punching and wreaking mayhem for seven or eight minutes while everyone else is hosping, buying insps, coming back, pulling others out of the fight, and reassembling the team out of sight of the freaking army that's swarming her. She finally drops when the timing between Parry, Dull Pain, and their attacks changes enough to let enough damage through. But she's done her job by that point -- she's taken down dozens, maybe over a hundred, Rikti entirely by herself in one epic melee, and the rest of the team is fresh. They port her out and raise her, and we head back in for the Honoree. I got eight Incarnate Shards out of that fight alone. And I lost count of the Vanguard Merits. Dren, to hell with my piddling complaint about not having Slice. I'm staying with your first build. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Drenivian - 12-13-2010 I'm glad you like it, and if you ever wanted slice the build is here, waiting for you. ********************* In the epic rage of furious thunder legends create their tales when the twilight calls and the dark lord falls our glory will prevail
- Bob Schroeck - 08-14-2011 And threadrez strikes... Purples are starting to be an option for me, Dren. Any simple set substitutions you can suggest? -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Drenivian - 08-15-2011 You could swap 1 set of Mako's Bite for Hecatomb, and the Scirroco's Dervish set for Armageddon. Armageddon is the one I'd do first, cause Hecatomb is expensive. ********************* In the epic rage of furious thunder legends create their tales when the twilight calls and the dark lord falls our glory will prevail
