This is what an upgrade looks like. - Logan Darklighter - 01-08-2009

This is what my new video card does for me. This is a before/after shot. Yow.

Heh.

Here's an action shot showing all the particle effects going.

Wait. Hold up just a second.

The snowmen had _texture_?!? All I've ever seen is a white blob with eyes.

(New video card arrives Friday, new vidcard arrives Friday... *whimper*)

(Also: *snrk*, nice! I'd forgotten that real-time shadows actually existed (turned off for performance reasons on my box); check out the pole protruding
from Frosty's leg in that shot)

EDIT: AAAAH! UPS says it's 'out for delivery'! And I'm not home! *sob*

That's pretty close to what my new pretty looks like and what it used to look like before (I didn't get any screenshots).

What hit me the most is the fact that everything looks... softer. Like somebody went over the whole world of CoX with a paintbrush and made it look a bit
hazier. Not a bad thing, just surprising to me.

And the water... THE WATER! O.O

Uni- check out Depth of Field. I actually have to change that one a lot - sometimes I REALLY like it, sometimes it fills me with the Fury Of a Thousand

Welcome to the world of anti-aliasing!

Wow, what a difference. City looks pretty good on my machine... but after upgrading, migrating and whatnot a couple of times over the years... mmmaybe I should
peer at my video settings. Just to make sure I'm not missing anything by accident.

Thanks! I turned that off and it is much easier on the eyes! Smile

I get some stuttering when flying or running around mercy island, but other than that it's been sooo smooth and nice.
