Two Contraband sweeps, two officers in sickbay, and two DEAD. And this is on a Starfleet ship. WHAT.
(That said, I feel like I need to dismiss two other DOFFs, due to being in the stockade and facing court-martial.)

Roddenberry's bright and shiny future clearly isn't as bright and shiny as advertised. Perhaps the Roddenberry-verse brushed up against the 40K-verse and a little crapsack got smeared on it.
