Wednesday, October 2, 1995. 7:25 PM. - Bob Schroeck - 01-06-2017 Hermione looked up from the book in front of her when two shadows blocked the light that hovered above and behind her. Fred and George Weasley grinned as one at her and dropped into the seats on either side of her at the library table where she had spent several hours in fruitless research. "Good evening, Hermione," they proclaimed together. "Good evening," she replied cautiously. "Word on the street," one -- whom she decided was Fred, given that every time she had known for *sure* which was which, Fred had always been the one to charge forward or take the leadership role -- said, "claims you know something about the gold handprint on the wall of the Defence classroom." She closed the book and raised an eyebrow. "On the *street*?" she asked dubiously. "Well, in the halls," said the presumed George. "More precisely, the Common Room," amended Fred. Hermione simply regarded them calmly, eyebrow still raised. The twins sighed in unison at her refusal to play along. "Ron told us," George admitted. "So?" Fred asked. "Do you?" -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Niteflier - 01-07-2017 I seem to remember Doug making that hand print already, but a quick check of the last few chapters shows nothing. Either way, still cool what he did. - Matrix Dragon - 01-07-2017 Nice touch with Hermione using logic working out how the twins work. - DHBirr - 01-07-2017 Quote:drogan niteflier wrote:Chapter 4, drogan. Most of the way down the page. I don't know that she was using all that much logic. Just waiting them out, refusing to give them any information until they were honest and precise with her. Simple common sense. Now arises the question of whether something they ask, or something she says while telling them about the transmutation, will stir a useful idea in her data-crammed head. ----- Big Brother is watching you. And damn, you are so bloody BORING. - Norgarth - 01-08-2017 Quote:DHBirr wrote:Particularly when dealing with The Weasley Twins. ___________________________ "I've always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific." - George Carlin - Labster - 01-10-2017 All I can think when I read this that Hermione has been watching old episodes of Star Trek and is practicing her Spock impersonation. -- ∇×V - Bob Schroeck - 01-10-2017 Well, part of this is Emma Watson's infamous "eyebrow acting". Which does echo Spock's "fascinating eyebrow" at times. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - DHBirr - 01-10-2017 Quote:vorticity wrote:I'm reminded of a passage in one of Mercedes Lackey's books: a dragon, who's Emperor-knows-how-old but currently wearing human form, "raised one long eyebrow at Tannim in a gesture that Tannim knew perfectly well had been copied after long study of Leonard Nimoy." ----- Big Brother is watching you.
