The next morning, Usagi glared at Luna while getting dressed.
"What?" Luna demanded.
"You snore," Usagi accused as she adjusted her skirt.
"I *what*?" Luna tilted her head.
"You *snore*," Usagi repeated, reaching for her middy blouse.
"I woke up in the middle of the night last night and heard you."
"How can I snore?" Luna demanded. "I'm a *cat*!"
Usagi rolled her eyes as she pulled the blouse on over her head.
"How can you snore? How can you *talk*?" She studied herself in
the mirror as she adjusted her collar. "Doesn't matter. No more
sleeping on my pillow right next to my ear."

I would like to point out as a cat owner that cats do, in fact, snore. Not the sawing, growling noise that humans make, but a more whistly grunting sort of thing. Usually, in my experience, when they sleep with their heads rolled over, like this one. You can hear my guy from halfway across the house when he's going.

"Oh yeah, Luna totally snores," Artemis confirmed.
"See, I told you she does!" Usagi felt firmly justified, until she thought aloud,"Wait a minute, how do you know that?"
"Oh, uh well..." Artemis blushed immediately, quickly followed by Ami's blush as soonas she realized the implications.
Usagi incredulously gasped, "You didn't?"
"This alley cat? I bet he did," Minako explained. "C'mon! Details, details!"

I can see a couple of possibilities, neither of which really apply to Snoopy. One being that it affects the cat's ears, and the other being that the fur right above the cat's eyes is much thinner than elsewhere, allowing you to see through to the underlying skin, an effect that I think is much more noticeable in solid colored cats like Luna and Artemis.
