Stock up on lead now... - Feinan - 02-14-2006 Yet another weird idea spawned from my new player. The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades Recorded by "Timbuk 3" Album: "Greetings From Timbuk 3" - 1989 I study nuclear science I love my classes I got a crazy teacher, he wears dark glasses Things are going great, and they're only getting better I'm doing all right, getting good grades The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades I've got a job waiting for my graduation Fifty thou a year -- buys a lot of beer Things are going great, and they're only getting better I'm doing all right, getting good grades The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades Well I'm heavenly blessed and worldly wise I'm a peeping-tom techie with x-ray eyes Things are going great, and they're only getting better I'm doing all right, getting good grades The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades I study nuclear science I love my classes I got a crazy teacher, he wears dark glasses Things are going great, and they're only getting better I'm doing all right, getting good grades The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades I gotta wear shades, I gotta wear shades The effect that got into my head for this song was the creation of a pair of sunglasses for Doug during the duration of the song. Wearing them enables two powers: first, everything can be seen clearly - even at night, just as if it were as bright as day. Second power - they're x-ray specs. Full X-ray vision, able to see through anything...except lead, of course. You might play with the possibilities - can he offer them to someone else for the song's duration, for instance? Enjoy. --Feinan Re: Stock up on lead now... - Valles - 02-14-2006 Hmmm... Actually, I'd be more inclined to guess it as granting limited precognition - literally seeing the future... with whatever he's viewing being so bright it hurts to look at directly... Ja, -n =========== =============================================== "V, did you do something foolish?" "Yes, and it was glorious." Skuld's so bright, Doug's gotta wear shades? -Rob Kelk -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Adversaries remain citizens of the same state, common subjects of the same sovereign, servants of the same law." - Michael Ignatieff, addressing Stanford University in 2012 Re: Stock up on lead now... - Bob Schroeck - 02-15-2006 Pinpon. It's actually in my notes as a bit of physical comedy -- in fact, I set up for it in Chapter 2. -- Bob --------- For Jor-El so loved the Earth, he sent his only begotten son... |
