Crowd control and mental balance... - Feinan - 02-02-2006 I was considering a few songs today, for crowd control purposes. Both should have similar effects: calming panic, which can be VERY useful when the civilians start to lose it. Don't Worry, Be Happy Bobby McFerrin Here's a little song I wrote You might want to sing it note-for-note Don't worry, be happy In every life we have some trouble But when you worry, you make it doubleDon't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy now Ooo-oo-hoo-hoo-oo hoo-hoo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry Woo-oo-woo-oo-woo-oo-ooo Be happy Woo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry, be happy Ooo-oo-hoo-hoo-oo hoo-hoo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry Woo-oo-woo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Be happy Woo-oo-woo-oo-ooo Don't worry, be happy Ain't got no place to lay your head Somebody came and took your bed Don't worry, be happy The landlord say your rent is late He may have to litigate Don't worry, (ha-ha ha-ha ha-ha) be happy (look at me, I'm happy) Ooo-oo-hoo-hoo-oo oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Be happy Oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo (Here, I'll give you my phone number. When you're worried, call me. I'll make you happy.) Ooo-oo-hoo-hoo-oo oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry Woo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo Be happy Woo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style Ain't got no gal to make you smile But don't worry, be happy 'Cause when you're worried, your face will frown And that will bring everybody down So don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy now Ooo-oo-hoo-oo-oo oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Be happy Woo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry, be happy Ooo-oo-oo-oo-oo oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry Woo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo Be happy Woo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry, be happy Now there, is this song I wrote I hope you learned it note-for-note, like good little children Don't worry, be happy A-listen to a-what I say In your life, expect some trouble When you worry you make it double Don't worry, be happy, be happy now Ooo-oo-hoo-hoo-oo oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Be happy Oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry, be happy Ooo-oo-hoo-oo-oo oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry Woo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Be happy Woo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry, be happy Ooo-oo-hoo-oo-oo oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry, don't worry Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't do it, be happy Oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Put a smile on your face Don't bring everybody down like this Ooo-oo-hoo-hoo-oo oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry Ooo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo It will soon pass, whatever it is Ooo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry, be happy (fading...) Ooo-oo-hoo-hoo-oo oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo I'm not worried Ooo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo I'm happy Ooo-oo-oo-oo-ooo and... Hakuna Matata Music by Elton John, lyrics by Tim Rice Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze It means no worries For the rest of your days It's our problem-free philosophy Hakuna Matata! Why, when he was a young warthog... When I was a young wart hoooog! Very nice. Thanks! He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal He could clear the savannah after every meal I'm a sensitive soul, though I seem thick-skinned And it hurt that my friends never stood downwind And oh, the shame (He was ashamed!) Thoughta changin' my name (Oh, what's in a name?) And I got downhearted (How did you feel?) Ev'rytime that I... Pumbaa! Not in front of the kids! Oh... sorry. Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze It means no worries For the rest of your days Yeah, sing it, kid! It's our problem-free philosophy... Hakuna Matata! Hakuna matata [Repeats] It means no worries For the rest of your days. It's our problem-free philosophy Hakuna Matata [Repeats] Both should produce calmness in an area effect. I was also considering another mental effect song, this one for balancing one's mind. It should help center a person, stopping emotional control attacks. It might also be used as a mental healing song, especially for damage done from an outside source. If used in the Buffyverse, this might well have cured/helped the people who were driven mad by Glorificus. Crane Dance Julia Ecklar 'In all things, there must be balance.' So my teacher says to me. 'Living life's the point of things, But balance is the key. There is power in the balance That allows a crane to stand. My son, you must learn balance To assist your empty hands. 'For balance guides the butterflies, And lets the seasons turn. The greatness inside any man Is the balance that he learns.' In my life there's been no balance- I was taught to lose or cheat. How am I to balance With no ground beneath my feet? How will learning to be hurt and hate Help me to have a chance? While a crane may stand by balance, You will never see one dance. For balance is a fairy tale I never will achieve. The naive may find balance, But the bitter can't believe. Still I try to catch my balance Where the sand hills meet the sea. Do I need another's faith, Or my own faith in me? With my head above the water I can sometimes see the land. Could it be I must see balance Before I can understand That balance is as balance does, Between the left and right? Balance means you understand The crane when it's in flight. Almost lost, can I find balance In the guise of what I fear? Could it be a test of fire Must make the balance clear? This fire only balances The cold I've known so long. From this balancing, I will emerge A single human strong. For balance tempers light and dark, And guides these empty hands. Like the crane, whose one leg bears his all, With balance, I can stand. So - any thoughts? -Feinan Re: Crowd control and mental balance... - Bob Schroeck - 02-02-2006 Hmmm. I like. Given both songs' lyrics, I suspect the calming will be as irrational as the mob might have gotten to begin with, making the affected individuals completely unable to be concerned about anything, even life-threatening situations... -- Bob --------- For Jor-El so loved the Earth, he sent his only begotten son... re Don't Worry... - Foxboy - 02-03-2006 IIRC, "Don't Worry, Be Happy" as performed by the original artist won't trigger Doug's metatalent, as it's entirely a capella. Or does Street Corner doowop also trigger as a few of the singers are using their voices as instruments? ''We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.'' -- James Nicoll Re: re Don't Worry... - classicdrogn - 02-03-2006 Given that that song always triggered a psychotic urge to find and destroy to sound system infliciting it on me, it is perhaps a good thing if it has no metatalent effects. - CDSERVO: Loook *deeeeply* into my eyes... Tell me, what do you see? CROW: (hypnotized) A twisted man who wants to inflict his pain upon others. Dr. Akagi will recover. Observe, Rei smiled. Shinji-kun, are these your clothes? Ritsuko shot up like a spring loaded meerkat. What? Shinji-kun is naked? See, Anata? Dr. Hentai is alive and well. - Innortal's _I Do_ -- "Anko, what you do in your free time is your own choice. Use it wisely. And if you do not use it wisely, make sure you thoroughly enjoy whatever unwise thing you are doing." - HymnOfRagnorok as Orochimaru at SpaceBattles woot Med. Eng., verb, 1st & 3rd pers. prsnt. sg. know, knows Re: re Don't Worry... - Bob Schroeck - 02-03-2006 Quote:Oh, that's right, I'd quite forgotten that. -- Bob --------- For Jor-El so loved the Earth, he sent his only begotten son... Re: re Don't Worry... - Feinan - 02-03-2006 Hmm. It's been so long since I've heard the original, that I'd forgotten that as well. Or else I've heard a cover of it WITH music. -Feinan Re: re Don't Worry... - DHBirr - 02-03-2006 Quote:You and me both, CD! Chaos, I hate that song.DHBirr "If you keep me imprisoned long enough, eventually I will die.... [We] humans cannot live without our freedom. So, if you see me lying lifeless in my cage, come on in, because I'm dead. Really." ----- Big Brother is watching you. And damn, you are so bloody BORING. Re: re Don't Worry... - Bob Schroeck - 02-07-2006 Quote:I see I forgot to mention that filker extraordinaire Tom Smith once wrote a parody of this called The Worst Job There Is. -- Bob --------- For Jor-El so loved the Earth, he sent his only begotten son... |
