80's Hits - ordnance11 - 10-09-2004

I was listening to the radio on the way home, when I heard some of these hits and I thought theyd be good on the Walk.

One Moment in Time
By Whitney Houston

Verse 1:
Each day I live,
I want to be a day to give the best of me.
I'm only one, but not alone,
My finest day is yet unknown.
I broke my heart, for ev'ry gain
To taste the sweet, I face the pain.
I rise and fall, yet through it all, this much remains,
I want...
Chorus:
One moment in time,
When I'm more than I thought I could be.
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away,
And the answers are all up to me.
Give me one moment in time,
When I'm racing with destiny,
Then in that one moment of time,
I will feel, I will feel eternity.
Verse 2:
I've lived to be the very best,
I want it all, no time for less.
I've laid the plans,
Now lay the chance, here in my hands,
Give me...
Chorus x2.
Bridge:
You're a winner, for a lifetime,
If you seize that one moment in time.
Make it shine.
Give me...
Chorus x2.
I will be, I will be free

Electric Youth
by Debbie Gibson

Ho-woah...
VERSE 1:
Zappin' it to ya
The pressure's everywhere
Goin' right through ya
The fever's in the air
Oh yeah, it's there!
Don't underestimate the power
of a lifetime ahead
CHORUS:
Electric youth
Feel the power, you see the energy
Comin' up
Coming on strong
The future only belongs
to the future itself/in the hands of itself
and the future is
Electric youth
It's true you can't fight it
Live by it
the next generation...
it's electric
VERSE 2:
We've got the most time
to make the world go round
Oh, can you spare a dime?
Place your bet on our sound
Come back to town
Don't lose sight of potential mastermind
Remember when you were young
CHORUS
it's electric
BRIDGE:
We do what comes naturally (naturally!)
You see now
wait for the possibility
Don't you see a strong resemblance
to yourself?(oh...)
Don't you think what we say is important?
Whatever it may be...
The fun is gonna start with me
'cause I'm bringing it back...
CHORUS
it's electrifying
Take it Fred!
CHORUS
it's electric, it's electric, it's electric
CHORUS
inflation
flirtation
relaxation
elation
generation of
an electric youth!

The Living Years
by Mike And The Mechanics

Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door
I know that I'm a prisoner
To all my father held so dear
I know that I'm a hostage
To all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could have told him
In the living years
Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thought
Stilted conversations
I'm afraid that's all we've got
You say you just don't see it
He says it's perfect sense
You just can't get agreement
In this present tense
We all talk a different language
Talking in defense
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye
So we open up a quarrel
Between the present and the past
We only sacrifice the future
It's the bitterness that lasts
So don't yield to the fortunes
You sometimes see as fate
It may have a new perspective
On a different day
And if you don't give up,
And don't give in
You may just be OK
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye
I wasn't there that morning
When my father passed away
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say.
I think I caught his spirit
Later that same year
I'm sure I heard his echo
In my baby's new born tears
I just wish I could have told him
In the living years
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye

A Call To Arms by Mike and the Mechanics
Pass the word, it's a call to arms
Midnight man at your door
Blackened faces run in the night
Daybreak under the floor
Bring my bow
Fill my head with flame, and we must
Let them know that the torch is lit again
Crystallize the pain behind your eyes
Are you ready to fight?
(You hear the drum and) run for your life
(Sweet Avalon the heat is on)
In other words, I hope and pray
That time and tide wash the hate away
A simple man with simple thoughts
Who turned to force as a last resort
All around us, chaos rings
Buildings crumbling down
Silhouettes in the fiery rain
Timbers crash to the ground
Bring my spear, invested with my youth
Bring the children near, they must now be told the truth
Old and young and those of foreign tongue
Are you ready to fight?
(You hear the drum and) run for your life
(Sweet Avalon the heat is on)
In other words, I hope and pray
That time and tide wash the hate away
A simple man with simple thoughts
Who turned to force as a last resort
In other words, I hope and pray
That time and tide keep the day away
When simple men with simple thoughts
Will turn to force as a last recourse

One Moment in Time, Doug has the power to do what must be done for the duration of the song...with the appropriate side effects at the end. Maybe at or just below of the The Touch or it gives him the answer to how to find a way home.
Electric Youth..similar in effect to Lightning's Hand
The Living Years..I think Bob mentioned in another Walk of having someone meet their loved ones who passed away..this is the song to do it, in my opinion.
Call To Arms...similar to With a Little Help From My Friends
