"Yes, and it was glorious." Nifty. - Bard J - 02-17-2003 Hey Valles, did you get the second song off of a CD, or do you actually have a good source for Gaelic songs somewhere? Even lyrics pages for the old folk songs I like (the ones I can find) are rare. And what kind of music do the Regular Joes sing? - Bard J, always on the lookout for a new song to obsess over. Re: Nifty. - Valles - 02-17-2003 Runrig's a folk rock group. I don't know what or how many CDs they've got out - I ripped my mp3 copy off a variety disc called "The Best of British Folk Rock". True story, first thing I thought when I heard the song was, "Hey, that's a really cool guitar lick." Gaelic/celtic/traditional/whatever isn't really my scene, but my parents are very fond of the stuff and I've had enough exposure to find a few faves. The Regular Joes are a now-defunct Oklahoma City band. Sort of old fashioned blues/rock stuff. My fondness for their lyrics are no coincidence - my worldview is pretty typical of my father's side of the family. The frontman/main songwriter for the Regular Joes was/is Joseph Baxter - whose worldview is -also- typical of our family. Blessed be. -n (Uncle Joe's pretty cool in person, too.) =========== =============================================== "V, did you do something foolish?" "Yes, and it was glorious." Re: Nifty. - Bob Schroeck - 02-19-2003 Ah. Nepotism. (Like I'm one to talk. Go to CDBaby and look for "Shem". Or Google on "Shem Schroeck," "Artie Schroeck" or "Arthur Schroeck". My cousin and my uncle respectively. The interview at BADDASSCHICK is especially fun.) Oh, and I'd love to get my hands on those tracks, if you'd like to share... And I didn't know you liked Celtic stuff. Maybe we have something in our collection you'd want... -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. |
