That is hilarious. I have this image of Doug jumping onto a sun beam and running off like Rainbow Brite then waving to all the nice people. *snicker*--------------- Oh crap. I've got Destiny. --- Jon "And that must have caused my dad's brain to break in half, replaced by a purely mechanical engine of revenge!" Re: It had to be done. - Logan Darklighter - 02-27-2004 I'm reminded of a hokey Flash comic where they had Flash running up a searchlight beam. You can run as fast as you want, but that doesn't let you walk on photons. I don't know how the song would alter Doug to let him do that, but it would be entertaining. What it *might* do, now that I think about it, is it might allow him to *transmit* himself along a beam of light to his destination. So as long as the song is running, he can jump into a beam of light, and suddenly wind up wherever it strikes. He could cross chasms or tall buildings that way, using a laser pointer as the "rope". Then when he finishes (assuming it's within the limits of the song), he touches the beam, winds up on the other building, and retrieves his laser pointer. ![]() This has the net effect of giving him a cool transportation power without getting too powerful. The limitation is that he rematerializes when the beam strikes a solid object. So even though the pointer could tap a far wall through a window, Doug would materialize outside the window. If he's not ready for that, it would be a LONG way down... Even he doesn't need to know how he does them, other than "I play this song and I can do this." Remember, he told Lisa he can do some things that even archmages can't -- like the cartoon bit about "I never studied law" in response to complaints about ignoring the law of gravity, Doug's subconscious knows nothing about the theoretical structure of magery. It just does what it wants. That being said, I like Chris' idea. Lots. -- Bob --------- There's no wrong way to eat a Rhesus. Re: Re: It had to be done. - WengFook - 02-27-2004 i have a sudden image of Doug on his bike riding UP a searhlight beam. "Jim, thanks for lending me the use of the batsignal." _________________________________ Take Your Candle, Go Light Your World. Re: Re: It had to be done. - WengFook - 02-29-2004 heh heh who know maybe the grav-master engine broke down? ![]() I know. I know I am stretching it, I just plain forgot until you reminded me ![]() but it could work ne? silent mode= riding until hes up in the clouds. switches on the song, then turns off the engine. then rides a sunbeam down to the surface. with no emissions whatsoever... _________________________________ Take Your Candle, Go Light Your World.
