A little New (Old?) Wave - Berk - 10-18-2003 Information Society - Peace & Love Incorporated Look at the world It's a complicated place And it's hard to keep the pace You've got to wear a smiling face But what we've got Is a blue-light special on truth It's the hottest thing with the youth You've got nerves we need to soothe If you've got to believe in something Believe in us cos we'll make it easy Peace and Love, Incorporated Shop around See if you don't agree We think it fits you to a "T" And the best part is it's free I believe We got the market cornered this time We can make you feel fine It could impact your bottom line If you've got to believe in something Believe in us cos we'll make it easy If you've got to belong to something Belong to us and we'll make you PC Peace and Love, Incorporated Peace and Love It's the newest cause by far And we've got all the biggest stars Get your politics up to par If you've got to believe in something Believe in us cos we'll make it easy If you've got to belong to something Belong to us and we'll make you PC Peace and Love, Incorporated Welcome... (Welcome...) To Peace and Love, Incorporated Welcome... (Welcome...) To Peace and Love, Incorporated Welcome... (Welcome...) To Peace and Love, Incorporated Now, I won't try to speculate on what this song might do for the Loon, but who knows, it might be something nice, and coming in at five minutes in length it might get him out of a pinch. - Grumpy Uncle Gearhead Re: A little New (Old?) Wave - Bob Schroeck - 10-18-2003 Huh. I could almost have used that instead of Aquarius in chapter 14... I've got another Information Society song racked up for use if I ever write a Babylon 5 Step... Imagine the response of a Psi Cop to "I Want To Know What You're Thinking (Pure Energy)". -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. Re: A little New (Old?) Wave - Berk - 10-18-2003 *laughs* Brilliant, postivly brilliant. - Grumpy Uncle Gearhead Re: A little New (Old?) Wave - Ace Dreamer - 10-18-2003 "Psi Power" by, you guessed, Hawkwind. "... I can read your mind like a magazine Know who you are, know where you've been I know all the secrets that you want to keep ..." Mind you, if he does use this, Doug could probably get away without the lead-lined room to keep him sane... Michael Moorcock was associated with Hawkwind for quite a bit, and in the earlier days had his own band, "Deep Fix", and the "Chronicles of the Black Sword" tour _might_ have had something to do with him! [grin] And for those who might be interested: www.hawkwindmuseum.co.uk/ Looks like they have some sort of web ring as well, maybe. Ah. Hook. Mind a bit flakey this Saturday evening. Sorry. Mike Moorcock was noted for having started the "New Wave" in SF, in the 1970s (I think), introducing "soft" sciences, like sociology and psychology. I think it can be a bad idea calling something "new"... Particularly 25+ years later... *Bad, very bad. Two edits to just get this looking vaguely right [shakes head] * -- "It is the business of the future to be dangerous" - Hawkwind Re: A little New (Old?) Wave - Aleh - 10-19-2003 Quote:My suggestion would be that the song would create what would amount to an area-of-effect calm-spell centered around Doug. In other words, those nearby would find themselves all warm-and-fuzzy and unable to fight. Of course, Doug would be effected, too...------------------- *No,* Sachiel replied. *Aww, come on,* I answered. *Absolutely not,* he insisted. *What's so bad about my idea?* *While I have no problem with withdrawing and allowing you to handle the situation, I have... issues with your plan to tell the Lillim that you are the "3.14th Angel, Auwhotda'ell".* ![]() |
