another Gatesong - Norgarth - 04-16-2008 Movin' Right Along (Kermit and Fozzie) Kermit Movin' right along in search of good times and good news, With good friends, you can't lose, Fozzie: This could become a habit. Kermit: Opportunity just knocked, let's reach out and grab it, Together we'll nab it. Fozzie: Ya! We'll hitch-hike, bus, or yellow cab it. Kermit (spoken): Cab it? Kermit & Fozzie: Movin' right along Kermit: Foot-loose and fancy free. Gettin' there is half the fun; come share it with me. Kermit & Fozzie: Movin' right along! Kermit: Doog-a-doon, doog-a-doon We'll learn to share the load. Fozzie: We don't need a map to keep this show on the road. (Dialogue) Kermit: (looking at the map) Hey, Fozzie, I want you to turn left when you get to a fork in the road. Fozzie: Yessir: turn left at the fork in the road. (A giant fork appears in a fork in the road) Fozzie: KERMIT! Kermit: I don't believe that. Kermit: Movin' right along we found a life on the highway, Fozzie: And your way is my way-- Kermit: So trust my navigation. Fozzie: California here we come, come pie-in-the-sky land. Kermit: Palm trees and warm sand-- Fozzie: Though sadly we just left Rhode Island. Kermit: (spoken) We did what? Fozzie: (spoken) Just forget it. Kermit & Fozzie: Movin' right along Kermit: Hey, L.A., where have you gone? Fozzie: Send someone to fetch us, we're in Saskatchewan. Kermit & Fozzie: Movin' right along Kermit: Doog-a-doon, doog-a-doon) You take it, you know best. Fozzie: Hey, I've never seen the sun come up in the West. Fozzie: (spoken) A bear in his natural habitat! A studabaker! (Dialogue) Kermit: Hey, Fozzie, look up ahead. (A tall creature is walking on the other side of the quiet empty highway) Fozzie: What is that? Kermit: Maybe we should give him a ride. Fozzie: I dunno. He's pretty big. (The studabaker pulls alongside the creature) Fozzie: Hey, there. Wanna lift? Big Bird (Carroll Spinney) Oh, no, thanks. I'm on my way to New York City to try to break into public television! Fozzie: Ah...hmmm, good luck. (The studabaker keeps on moving the other direction) Kermit & Fozzie: Movin' right along Fozzie: We're truly birds of a feather, We're in this together-- Kermit: And we know where we're goin'. Fozzie: Movie stars with flashy cars and life with the top down. Kermit: We're stormin' the big town. Fozzie: Yeah! Storm is right, should it be snowin'? Kermit: (spoken) No, I don't think so. (On the Soundtrack but not in the Movie) Kermit & Fozzie: Movin' right along Fozzie: Do I see signs of men? Kermit: Yeah, "welcome" on the same post that says "come back again." Kermit & Fozzie: Movin' right along Kermit: Foot-loose and fancy free. Fozzie: You're ready for the big time-- Kermit: Is it ready for me? Kermit & Fozzie: Movin' right along! Movin' right along! (repeat to fade) ----- This is even more appropriate as a gatesong since (judging by some of Fozzie's lines) they experienced their own drunkard's walk. ___________________________ "I've always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific." - George Carlin - Bob Schroeck - 04-16-2008 I don't think this is the first time that song's been suggested... Whether it is or not, I agree, this would be a fine gate song. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - robkelk - 04-17-2008 I think you're right, and I think you're right. (And I think maybe a "Possible Gatesongs" sticky might be useful, to put them all in one place...) -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Adversaries remain citizens of the same state, common subjects of the same sovereign, servants of the same law." - Michael Ignatieff, addressing Stanford University in 2012 - Norgarth - 04-17-2008 I check for this song with the Search function, but it didn't seem to be posted anywhere in any of the threads. I finally had to post this because it had been stuck in my head ever since I posted that 'Doug on the Muppet Show' idea a week or so back. ![]() ___________________________ "I've always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific." - George Carlin - Bob Schroeck - 04-17-2008 I think the Yuku search has inherited some of its predecessor's flakiness, so don't trust its "not found" results as being 100% accurate. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Necratoid - 05-02-2008 You know... considering that 'The Way' sent him somewhere that was warped... and he only mostly understood what was going on (remembering what I saw of that series and its random, chaoticness and the teaser scene in which Doug got to here the manages unwanted nickname )... wouldn't the destination be effected by the song? In this gate song it constantly mentions new places with every verse... which means it would send him all over the place before ending up somewhere he wakes up. Also considering the line: Quote: Opportunity just knocked, let's reach out and grab it, Together we'll nab it.It could mean he will wake up with all sorts of random stuff on him when he wakes up. Now remembering an idea Bob had for a spam jump in which Doug roles through Ranma 1/2 and separates the people into canonical couples and immediately gates out... you could use this song as the transition song. The only thing you'd need to do is have Doug role randomly through a few series and pick up random kibble. Might be useful if you ever need to have him arrive with some item that will smooth over entrance into a dimension or he ends up somewhere needing a rather random bribe upon waking. Could also have him drop off random kibble he picks up as he goes altering events in random series. Say he drops a weapon for someone that is about to lose a fight due to being disarmed or, more comically, he roles behind some guy that forgot a gift for a birthday or anniversary and the object falls into the guys hands, behind his back, ending a fight or fixing the damage in a relationship before it starts. Could also screw up some mad scientists work by rolling in behind him and bumping him into screwing up a mixture and foiling his Evil Plan... or roll behind someone giving a speech and screwing up the speech's effect... or braking up an awkward pause with a random cameo roll through. Basically, a random way to alter a few world's without him really doing anything... and maybe disposing of a few random plot bunnies. - robkelk - 05-02-2008 Quote:wouldn't the destination be effected by the song? That's what I did in "A Day in the Life" - Take Me Out to the Ball Game landed Doug in the Princess Nine world. Quote:Basically, a random way to alter a few world's without him really doing anything... and maybe disposing of a few random plot bunnies. And a few of the dozens of proposed Gate songs... -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Adversaries remain citizens of the same state, common subjects of the same sovereign, servants of the same law." - Michael Ignatieff, addressing Stanford University in 2012 - Evil Midnight Lurker - 05-03-2008 I think this should land him in a Tenchi Muyo universe, if only because of... Quote: Fozzie: ![]() --Sam "If I'd known I was going to die today, I wouldn't have done all that homework!" - Necratoid - 05-06-2008 That would only work if he knew what a cabbit was ahead of time... so if he went to Tenchi and then used this song, he could make a cameo in transit. Probably right through somebody's bridge when they are taunting the Tenchi group over the com.... somebody trying to issue ultimatums and declare itself invincible... the Doug drives through and it falls face first into the controls and turns of its own shield or super weapon and he gates out before the guy can respond. Could also disable a force field that way. - Bob Schroeck - 12-02-2009 EML: That's pushing it a bit, don't you think? -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. |
