Good, Bad, and Depends-On-Circumstance - The Second - David Lewis - 02-14-2010 Good First off, a characteristic fantasy metal piece by Blind Guardian, the band that had Lord of the Rings ballads before Peter Jackson founded Weta, this is the theme song from the videogame Sacred 2: Fallen Angel Sacred – Blind Guardian – 6:18 [Intro] Hello, my loyal servants. Listen, this is for the people of Ancaria. Though the hour's dark and the suffering goes on, just keep in mind: This world, is sacred. [Song] The realms bleeding It suffers Old and weak No further argued There is war at hand (The system's failed) The engine's running Then after all I sense the end is starting These lunatics deny the truth I know I will not fail There'll be, War it's now or never We shall stand together One by one This world is sacred (I'm coming home) War it's now or never We shall stand together One by one This world is sacred I'm coming home Coming home! You chase the twilight and you know You will be on your own On your own! The misery's shown I'll be alone in this hour I face the unknown Witness the end I'm bleeding I'm fading Here in my final hour When long-lost memories return And a voice keeps calling All dead and gone Its out of hand Life is in motion (I'm wishing, I'm fading) Time to wake up Face the truth I'm sinking I'm drowning There's no doub and no regret (Time to reveal now) This is no illusion It is real Carry on the flame It's not over now Watch me I will rise! (Time to reveal now) I know I will not fail anymore Bind the one forever All that really matters Blessed ground This world is sacred (I'm coming home) War it's now or never We shall stand together One by one This world is sacred I'm coming home Yesterdays gone There's no today no tomorrow I'd risk all the land The ritual failed There at the gates I'm left alone in this hour Driven insane I am left alone And now I drown in deepest shadows While the golden horn is sealed I'm wishing I'm fading And I am part of the machine No one lives forever All that really matters Find the one This world is sacred (I'm coming home) War it's now or never We shall stand together One by one This world is sacred I'm coming home (HOOOOOOOOOOME!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fakNlghOJY Power: Doug would probably try for a gate song (I'm coming home), but I see this turning the AOE into holy ground, with all the metaphysical bonuses that implies, like a MASSIVE bonus fighting demons and vampires. Bad I Don't Want To Be (A Superhero) – Roadrunner United – 2:03 They came from the sky And they came from the sea They came from the inside of the television screen Babies of bastards Breeding as one The fate of Earth is doomed I quit! I'm done! Some kind of darkness come creep over me On what legal meat does our Caesar do feed? So we could never be this free! No! I don't want to be a superhero Never really cared about society I don't want to be a superhero I don't care so don't call me They came from the sea And they came from the sky Captain America is going to die Babies of bastards Breeding for fun The fate of Earth is doomed Get your gun, I'm done Some kind of darkness come creep over me On what legal meat does our Caesar do feed? So we could never be this free! No! I don't want to be a superhero Never really cared about society I don't want to be a superhero I don't care so don't call me Woah, Woah, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey Some kind of darkness come creep over me On what legal meat does our Caesar do feed? So we could never be this free! No! I don't want to be a superhero Never really cared about society I don't want to be a superhero I don't care so don't call me I don't want to be a superhero Woah I don't want to be a superhero Woah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UvgMRjC ... re=related – (Supernatural AMV with song) Power: A ‘make me a completely powerless human' song, whilst theoretically useful in certain circumstances, has two downsides. 1) It's very short length makes it relatively useless, and 2) I see this working on any/all Superheroes surrounding Doug at the time as well, making it a very bad one to try out in the middle of a firefight. Plus there's the looming apocalypse and giving up theme throughout, and the possibility that the power-drain could have potentially have no time-limit. Depends Zombie – Cranberries – 5:14 Another head hangs lowly, Child is slowly taken. And the violence caused such silence, Who are we mistaken? But you see, it's not me, it's not my family. In your head, in your head they are fighting, With their tanks and their bombs, And their bombs and their guns. In your head, in your head, they are crying... In your head, in your head, Zombie, zombie, zombie, Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head, In your head, Zombie, zombie, zombie? Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo... Another mother's breaking, Heart is taking over. When the violence causes silence, We must be mistaken. It's the same old theme since nineteen-sixteen. In your head, in your head they're still fighting, With their tanks and their bombs, And their bombs and their guns. In your head, in your head, they are dying... In your head, in your head, Zombie, zombie, zombie, Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head, In your head, Zombie, zombie, zombie? Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, hey, oh, ya, ya-a... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ejga4kJ ... re=related Power: I could see this going two ways, either a ‘drive a person mad with war and screaming in thier heads' ability, or a more benign mind-control telepathy power, with the downside of rendering the person into a zombie-like state during use. I dunno.... - LynnInDenver - 02-14-2010 David Lewis Wrote:Power: A ‘make me a completely powerless human’ song, whilstThere are benefits to a short song that kills everyone's powers in the AOE... someone who you want to stop the mental/forcefield stuff they're doing just long enough to plant a fist or two in their face. -- "You know how parents tell you everything's going to fine, but you know they're lying to make you feel better? Everything's going to be fine." - The Doctor - robkelk - 02-14-2010 Actually, wouldn't that damp everyone else's powers, not everyone's powers? Doug makes it quite clear, in many different places on the Walk, that he isn't a superhero ("whatever that is"). -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Adversaries remain citizens of the same state, common subjects of the same sovereign, servants of the same law." - Michael Ignatieff, addressing Stanford University in 2012 - David Lewis - 02-14-2010 Hmm, true. But I get the feeling that it would definitely only kill hero's powers, as to whether that would include Doug or not I don't know, but the definite downside is that all his allies would be 'nurfed, making them meat for the villains. - Bob Schroeck - 02-15-2010 Mm. Don't know if I'll have time to listen to all three before I need to crash tonight, but let's see what I can manage. Quote:Power: Doug would probably try for a gate song (I’m coming home), but I see this turning the AOE into holy ground, with all the metaphysical bonuses that implies, like a MASSIVE bonus fighting demons and vampires.Hm. Yeah, sounds reasonable. Thing is, I can see this as an Evangelion song, too... Quote:Power: A ‘make me a completely powerless human’ song, whilst theoretically useful in certain circumstances, has two downsides. 1) It’s very short length makes it relatively useless, and 2) I see this working on any/all Superheroes surrounding Doug at the time as well, making it a very bad one to try out in the middle of a firefight. Plus there’s the looming apocalypse and giving up theme throughout, and the possibility that the power-drain could have potentially have no time-limit.I have to agree with Rob here -- Doug doesn't view himself as a superhero at all, especially after finding out what the concept entails. But I can't see a justification for a "shut off everyone else's powers" effect in the lyrics, either. I'll have to think some more on this one. Quote:Power: I could see this going two ways, either a ‘drive a person mad with war and screaming in thier heads’ ability, or a more benign mind-control telepathy power, with the downside of rendering the person into a zombie-like state during use.I suppose. But it seems to me like there's something else it could do, except I'm just not seeing it at the moment. Maybe because I'm about to fall over with exhaustion right now. Hm. I'll think on this one, too. Thanks for the suggestions! -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Bob Schroeck - 04-22-2010 Hmm. I've been listening to "Sacred" a lot recently, and I just realized that it could just as well be very good "final-stand-in-the-Dark-Kingdom" music for the Sailor Moon Step. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Proginoskes - 05-12-2010 "Sacred" can't be anything but a Darkest-Hour song – possibly to the extent that using it in anything but absolute desperation will somehow cause the situation to worsen. Hmm… taking a page from more traditional Bards, Doug and allies (or maybe just his allies, leaving Doug himself immobile) within AoE are given a massive boost to confidence and determination, with a commensurate increase in physical/metaphysical abilities? Or possibly a "pure channelling" song, gathering up available ambient mana, tapping nearby ley lines, nodes, and tethers, and making all that and much of his own reserves available to an allied spellcaster? No, no, it should definitely involve granting Heroic Resolve to allies in order to turn them into Determinators. |
