Song of the Day, 11/21/03 - Bob Schroeck - 11-21-2003

Well I don't know why I came here tonight
I've got a feelin' that somethin' ain't right
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair
and wonderin' how I'll get down the stairs
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you
Yes, I'm stuck in the middle with you
And I'm wonderin' what it is I should do
It's so hard to keep this smile from my face
'Cause I'm showin' up all over the place
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am stuck in the middle with you
Well you started off with nothin'
And you're proud that you're a self-made man
And your friends they all come crawlin',
Slap you on the back and say
Please....please....
Tryin' to make some sense of it all,
But I can see there is no sense at all
Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor,
I don't think that I can take any more
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right,
Here I am stuck in the middle with you
Well you started off with nothin'
And you're proud that you're a self-made man
And your friends they all come crawlin',
Slap you on the back and say
Please....please....
Well I don't know why I came here tonight
I've got a feelin' that somethin' ain't right
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair
and wonderin' how I'll get down the stairs
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you

Heh. That song brings up a few possible things to my minds eye with the Sabers and Doug working their way out of Genom Tower. Mostly with Silya quoting a line from the song and watching Doug to a double-take.

"I suppose, Colonel, that you're proud you're a self-made man?"
^_^
Blessed be.

"I suppose, Colonel, that you're proud you're a self-made man?"
I'd see more:
Doug: Great. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right...
Sylia (or maybe Priss): And here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

This song always makes me visualize Michael Madsen cutting some poor schmoe's ear off. Damn you, Tarantino.

I have been very careful not to see Reservoir Dogs, partly because of the gore -- I think I may have mentioned my admiration for Quentin Tarantino and dislike of the blood in his films in another thread here at one time -- and mainly to avoid having my enjoyment of this song disturbed!
