Hunting for Game Recs - Valles - 11-17-2007 I really, really like Crimson Skies. It's just a fun setting and a fun game. Unfortunately, it's also old and pretty moribund. The pretty Saitek I got to play it with is sitting and getting dusty. I mostly live in single player. I love sci-fi. I have no interest in 'realistic' flight models or problems for their own sake. I wanna step out in the sky and blow stuff up. ...and I have no clue where to start looking for reasonably modern games to scratch that itch. X2: The Threat, and X3: Reunion. These game are essentially modern iterations of Elite. There's a big focus on sandboxing the universe, and trade/economics is a major part of the game. Dark Star One: Sort of a Diablo-in-starfighters. Has a mouse-based control system similar to Freelancer. It's fun, but once you finish the main game there's not much else to do. Independance War 2: The Edge of Chaos: Good luck finding this one, but if you do you won't be disappointed. Best damn space game I've ever played. XWing/Tie FIghter: Always worth a play. What (if any) game systems do you have? For the X360 there's Project Sylpheed and Ace Comabt 6. If you can get your hands on Freespace 2 (torrent it), there's Beyond The Red Line, a BSG mod: www.game-warden.com/bsg/index.html. Actually, there's a lot of Freespace 2 stuff at: www.hard-light.net/ There's the Priveteer Remake: priv.solsector.net/ Also, we have the Bab 5 free game, I've Found Her: ifh.firstones.com/ -- Christopher Angel, aka JPublic The Works of Christopher Angel "Camaraderie, adventure, and steel on steel. Re: Hunting for Game Recs - Star Ranger4 - 11-18-2007 well, I'd recommend www.freeallegiance.org/ but its not really single player. And its got a steep learning curve... but until about a month ago it was the only game I was playing on anything resembling a regular basis."I was an Otaku before those kids came along and changed the meaning of the word." -- HM "Howling Mad" Wilson to more than one team-mate. You can try a solo minigame to see if you want to be in the next open test. ultracorps.sjgames.com/"Anyone can be a winner if their definition of victory is flexible enough." - The DM ofthe Rings XXXV ---------------------------------------------------- "Anyone can be a winner if their definition of victory is flexible enough." - The DM of the Rings XXXV Re: Hunting for Game Recs - ECSNorway - 11-18-2007 Can anyone recommend one for the Mac? My father just switched over to Macs recently and has been wanting a flight sim game for them. Now that I have, I feel stupid because you are absolutely right, this is an awesome space sim. Re: Hunting for Game Recs - jpub - 11-21-2007 THere's a fansite for IWar 2 that can get you a lot of good mods.
