50 Years? Already? - His Lovely Wife - 07-10-2007 My father sent me this article. I thought this would be the best place to share it :-) Knowing there is at least one Bugs fan out there. :-) -Cindy www.thestar.com/article/233518 Re: 50 Years? Already? - Bob Schroeck - 07-10-2007 Back in the early 80s, when I was in college, all but pre-VCR, various student groups at Princeton would raise money by showing movies on Friday and Saturday nights in various lecture halls. (I wonder if they still do that. Probably not.) Both the Film Society (a club set up to do only that) and the campus SF club (of which I was a member) would do cartoon nights, so I've had the wonderful experience of seeing not just What's Opera, Doc? but many many other classic cartoons on a reasonably big screen. It is indeed an experience one should not miss if given the opportunity. -- Bob --------- The Internet Is For Norns. Re: 50 Years? Already? - Ebony - 07-10-2007 I always found "What's Opera, Doc?" to be a wonderful and funny sendup of opera and a unique spin on the Fudd/Bugs routine. It also reminds me of how talented Mel Blanc really was. Keeping Elmer's trademark voice and speech impediment while still managing to sing for the five minutes of the cartoon is really impressive.Ebony the Black Dragon Senior Editor, Living Room Games http://www.lrgames.com Ebony the Black Dragon http://ebony14.livejournal.com "Good night, and may the Good Lord take a Viking to you." |
