I have arrived on the Mobile Scene - Foxboy - 02-26-2008 Announcing my recent acquisition of a fairly modest Gateway wireless laptop, henceforth named Nogitsune. Now I just need to strip Vista Premium to Vista Basic or XP and load my favorite programs and peripheral drivers. Definitely CoH-capable, with the addition of a USB numpad and Optical mouse. Hopefully this will enable me to do more stuff without having to wait for my Dad to finish his school work online. CorruptedFlame gets to see it in the silicon-based technomatter next time we pen-and-paper. Expected resonse? "Yeah, yeah, whatever. It sucks. " ''We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.'' -- James Nicoll - CrimsonKMR - 02-27-2008 Ahem Yeah, yeah, whatever. It sucks. My job here is done *wanders off* There is no coincidence, only necessity.... - Clow Reed - Kokuten - 02-27-2008 Ahem. D000000000D SWEET!!!!111 I cheated like a big dog, fox. On the weekends, I play from a laptop using a USB keyboard with a built-in hub, and a USB mouse plugged into that. So I have a proper keyboard, which sits on my lap, a mouse which goes.. wherever. and when the mouse gets knocked off the desk/attempts suicide, it doesn't have a chance in hell of damaging the laptop. Don't know why I bother, the laptop stays outside and has been strapped to a snowmachine for three days now, I'm gonna kill it before the mouse does. CONGRATS!Wire Geek - Burning the weak and trampling the dead since 1979 - Rod.H - 02-29-2008 Now while it might be CoX-capable you'll have to turn down most of the pretties & stuff. Which is what I'd had to do with my HP nx6320 when I used it to play CoX. Then again as it uses the Intel 945GM on-board graphics chipset, I'm sure that something with a intel x3100GMA must be able of topping it. As for a mouse, Microsoft's latest Bluetooth notebook mouse ain't bad, even if they semi-disavow any existence of it. Drenloads better than a Logitech Bluetooth mouse I used previously. No random disconnections & loss of sync requiring multiple warm boots for a start. As to 'Yeah, yeah, whatever. It sucks. ' whatdoya expect: 1) It's a DellGateway!; 2) A cheep DellGateway; 3) it's a potential fire risk. edit: Eh!?! It's a Gateway....they still exist. I thought Dell took 'em over. Meh, --Rod.H "Bluetooth, nice when it works; damn right annoying when it doesn't" - ECSNorway - 02-29-2008 Hmmm. Congratulations, Fox! Now, my criteria for a laptop... 1) Has to be able to play CoH at a decent graphics level. 2) Has to cost less than $600 if at all possible. Any suggestions? -- Sucrose Octanitrate. Proof positive that with sufficient motivation, you can make anything explode. - Foxboy - 03-01-2008 My comp. Got it from Bestbuy, right at the 600 dollar mark. My GOD is i sweet on CoH! I only turn down the prettys because I was playing a dark/dark stalker and the effects code is NOT at all optimized. Even at "performance" auto setting, I have more detail than on my desktop box. Gateway LAptop 14.something-inch screen AMD Turion 64 x2 ATI Radeon Card [To run Hidef TV once it's available in my area off my broadband ] 2 gig RAM. I am in AWE I got this as cheap as I did.
